The purpose of the role is to spearhead strategic decisions for JSW Group Aviation
Charters which provides aircraft services to Top Management and First Family in
India and abroad. The incumbent will be in a role managing day-to-day operations
24X7 along-with spearheading strategic decisions for Aviation department with Head - Aviation. The incumbent will also supervise all aviation related projects such as provisioning of new air strips/ helipads, airport planning, acquiring new aircraft and new business initiatives of Group in Aviation & Aerospace.

Head Flight Operations is a Virtual Pilot who should be mentally operating each company aircraft and therefore should be a Fixed Wing Pilot.
Helicopter Pilots need to catch up on Fixed wing regulations as majority of the flying is Fixed wing Aircraft on domestic and international routes operated by state of the art aircraft. Flight operations on Helicopters is very less and limited to short ranges.
Non-Pilot and Non-Engineers can do the job but the situational awareness in various safety situations can be overcome if someone has handled a similar role before.
Qualifications of Head Flight Operations:
Pilot/ Navigator/ Aircraft Engineer
Been a Pilot previously and held an ATPL License and has flown
Commercial Fixed wing Aircraft on Domestic and international sectors as Pilot in Command.
The Role can be done by a Navigator who has served in a Leadership role of a organization like NSOP or similar. Has good knowledge of
Aircraft Performance, adept with knowledge of Modern Avionics (The exposure to Pilot situational awareness, Aircraft performance,
Knowledge of Systems particularly Engineering will be lacking who can be assisted by Head of Engineering).
Aircraft /Aeronautical Engineer who has managed flight operations and
Compliance of DGCA Regulations.
20-25 years of career experience in aviation operations, including a minimum of 5 years in a Management leadership position of an
Aviation organization.
Age : 50.
Base : Mumbai ( already based in Mumbai so local network is strong with all agencies)
Roles handled:
Head of Operation of fleet of Fixed wing Aircraft – Long range and medium range Jets. Flight Planning on domestic and international sectors. Min 5 years.
Handled DGCA compliance for minimum 5 years.
Aircraft knowledge: Good knowledge of aircraft performance capabilities including understanding weight & balance, load & trim, flight planning, meteorology, evaluating/ comparing aircraft for acquisition.
Ability to understand snags reported by Pilots and brief Top
Management. Capable of assessing Go/ No Go situations.
Handled Flight Safety. Aware of Limitations of aircraft, handled flight safety previously for 5 years min, knowledge of all DGCA regulations, Safety management System SMS.
Technical knowledge: knowledge of Engines, Avionics, Airframes,
SBs, Ads, Modifications, CAM, Quality, parts analysis, Jets, Turbo Prop,
Piston Engines. Operations with MEL. Airworthiness requirements, previously planned & coordinated major maintenance of aircraft.
Thorough Knowledge of Pilot training regulations of Fixed Wing and Helicopter Pilots. Knowledge of training requirements, shortcoming of each Pilot Pre and Post simulator sessions.
Handled DGCA regulatory Audits, Handled DGCA Regulatory audit,
Safety, CAP 3300/3400, EASA – SAPA Ramp checks.
Managed Top Management previously, understand safety requirements and good interpersonal skills. Possesses exceptional business acumen, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Hired Pilots. Engineers, staff, cabin crew. Demonstrated ability to recruit, hire and motivate a high performing team that values transparency and accountability.
Negotiated aircraft purchase, Dealt with Purchase Agreements,
Analysed performance of various aircraft. Has been involved in taking aircraft delivery.
Have been Accountable Manager or Deputy in NSOP operations. (Note Private Aircraft Accountable Manager/ Helicopter will need few years to understand so NSOP background preferred with
Long range Jets).
MRO management and aircraft maintenance: Knowledge of maintenance requirements of each aircraft and aware of aircraft contracts with Maintenance agencies.
Finance & Budgeting: Previously involved in Aviation Budget planning, Cost of operations. Balance sheets, aircraft costing calculations.
Liaison with DGCA and other agencies like BCAS, AAI etc is critical and so a good network is important. Min 10 years.
Interacted with OEM like Bombardier, Gulfstream, Cessna,
Leonardo, Rolls Royce, Pratt and Whitney, Honeywell and other OEMs,
MROs, spare part suppliers, aircraft sales agencies.
Man Management: Good experience.
Able to work collaboratively with diverse leaders, communicate strategy across all levels of the organization, and build consensus around key initiatives and projects.
SMS Safety Management System : Has thorough knowledge of
SMS. Can identify Hazards, is Flight Safety conscious and can quickly analyse a growing situation.
Weather and Terrain: Can relate aircraft performance with respect to bad weather and Terrain.
