BIM/VDC Coordinator
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented BIM/VDC Coordinator to manage and optimize Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) workflows across design and construction phases. This role primarily maintains model quality, coordinates interdisciplinary models, runs clash detection and reporting, and supports project teams by ensuring consistent Revit model standards and efficient use of BIM tools. The Coordinator will facilitate collaboration between design, engineering, and field teams to deliver accurate, constructible digital models and support schedule- and cost-driven VDC deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain Revit models and families to ensure adherence to project BIM standards and company templates.
Develop, implement and enforce BIM execution plans, modeling standards, naming conventions and metadata requirements.
Perform regular model QA/QC and auditing to identify and resolve geometry, data, and classification issues.
Coordinate interdisciplinary model integration and run clash detection workflows using Navisworks (or other clash detection tools); document, prioritize, and track clash resolution with design and trades.
Prepare and deliver federated models, 3D visualizations, 4D (schedule-based) simulations and 5D (cost-linked) model exports as required by project deliverables.
Support field coordination by producing coordinated models and drawings, providing model-based guidance for prefabrication, site layout and installation sequencing.
Manage model exchanges, version control and data handovers to clients, contractors and subcontractors; maintain a clear model revision history.
Provide training, documentation and technical support to project teams on Revit best practices and BIM/VDC workflows.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects and contractors to incorporate constructability feedback and resolve RFI-related model issues.
Assist in selection, setup, and administration of BIM collaboration platforms (e.g., BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud) and integrate with project workflows.
Qualifications
Proven proficiency in Autodesk Revit required; strong modeling and family creation skills.
3+ years of experience in a BIM coordination or VDC role on commercial, institutional or industrial projects.
Practical experience with clash detection and model federation; familiarity with Navisworks for clash detection workflows is highly desirable.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD for 2D coordination and file interoperability is a plus.
Experience developing and enforcing BIM execution plans, modeling standards, and QA/QC processes.
Familiarity with BIM collaboration platforms (BIM 360, ACC) and model/version control best practices.
Solid understanding of construction processes, sequencing and constructability issues; ability to translate field requirements into model changes.
Excellent communication and coordination skills with experience liaising between design teams, contractors and field staff.
Knowledge of industry standards such as ISO 19650 or equivalent is beneficial.
Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines; problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
