About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated IT Support Specialist to join our team at Optum. This role is pivotal in maintaining the integrity and functionality of our healthcare technology infrastructure. As an IT Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and supporting the deployment and maintenance of IT systems across the organization. Your expertise will ensure seamless operations, enhance user experience, and uphold compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA. You will collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and end-users to deliver timely solutions and maintain optimal system performance. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about technology and healthcare to grow their skills while making a tangible difference in patient care and organizational efficiency.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a customer-focused attitude. Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED (or higher), along with at least two years of experience in technical support roles. Candidates should have hands-on experience with deploying, repairing, and maintaining computer hardware such as workstations, laptops, IP phones, smartphones, tablets, printers, copiers, and scanners. Additionally, proficiency in software deployment and troubleshooting, particularly with the Microsoft Office Suite and Windows operating systems, is essential. Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs., work in varying temperatures, navigate within buildings, and travel across service areas with reliable transportation is also required. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with basic networking concepts and customer/server environments, as well as adaptability and strong teamwork skills in high-pressure healthcare settings.
Responsibilities
Accurately document technical issues and resolutions within ticketing systems, aiding in root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
Provide training sessions and knowledge-sharing to end-users on common issues, software applications, and new technologies.
Participate in or lead small-scale IT projects such as system upgrades, application rollouts, and infrastructure changes.
Ensure all work complies with organizational security policies, data protection standards, and healthcare regulations, including HIPAA.
Monitor and manage IT inventory, maintaining appropriate stock levels of hardware and replacement parts.
Collaborate with third-party vendors for advanced troubleshooting, warranty claims, and specialized support services.
Perform proactive maintenance and routine checks on systems and devices to optimize performance and prevent failures.
Adhere to service level agreements (SLAs) for response and resolution times, prioritizing tasks effectively.
Act as a liaison between on-site teams and higher-tier IT support to escalate and resolve complex issues efficiently.
Provide exceptional customer service support to internal users, external customers, and vendors across Prohealth Care's network.
Install, deploy, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain hardware and software solutions throughout the organization.
Maintain detailed records related to workload management, asset tracking, and administrative documentation.
Deliver tier I and II support across various organizational service domains, ensuring prompt resolution.
Communicate professionally and proactively in person, via phone, and electronically to ensure clear understanding and customer satisfaction.
Apply routine troubleshooting methodologies to resolve issues efficiently while minimizing impact on end-users.
Operate independently once tasks are assigned, demonstrating self-direction and initiative.
Engage in ongoing self-study to enhance technical knowledge and customer service skills.
Communicate technical information in non-technical terms to facilitate user understanding and effective resolution.
