Workday HCM Integration Developer Lead (Contract)

Pay Range: $95/hr - $100/hr
Overview:
A global biopharmaceutical company is adding a hands-on Workday integration developer to its HCM technology team to support a developing software architecture. In this highly technical and hands-on role, you will design, develop, test, and support complex Workday integrations and partner with functional leads to understand the end-to-end process.
Responsibilities
Design and build advanced Workday Studio integrations from scratch, including error handling, transformations, and production support.
Deliver and enhance integrations using Enterprise Interface Builder, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, Document Transformation, and Workday web services.
Build and support REST and SOAP API integrations with downstream systems and third-party platforms, including payroll, benefits, and enterprise applications such as ServiceNow and Oracle.
Own integration testing: unit, scenario, system integration, and regression, and resolve defects before production.
Follow change control, release, and documentation standards, including design specs, mappings, and support runbooks.
Carry multiple projects at once and work with functional leads and downstream interface owners.
Ramp into Workday Extend and Workday Orchestrate for planned work. Current delivery is Studio-based; these tools are on the roadmap.
Apply or ramp Workday AI and agent patterns where they fit. Direct Workday AI experience is preferred; transferable experience with large language models or automation agents will be considered.
Qualifications
Several years of hands-on Workday integration development, with a proven record of complex Studio builds, not configuration-only or functional HRIS work.
Working depth in EIB, Core Connectors, XSLT, XML, calculated fields, reports-as-a-service, and Workday APIs.
Payroll interface experience (PECI, PICOF, or equivalent third-party payroll connectors) is a strong advantage. HCM-only background is not required if the integration skill transfers.
Experience leading testing, defect remediation, and production support for integrations.
Clear written communication and the ability to explain technical issues to functional partners.
Workday certifications are helpful. Delivered experience matters more.
Extend, Orchestrate, or Workday AI exposure is a plus. A fast ramp is acceptable if Studio depth is already there.
Engagement
Contract, with the possibility of extension. Remote is acceptable for the right technical expert. Hours must cover 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern. Occasional onsite time in Bridgewater, New Jersey is welcome but not required.
