The High Voltage (HV) Network Specialist is a senior field-based technical role responsible for the safe, compliant, and effective operation of Watercare's high voltage electrical network across the Auckland region, covering assets from Warkworth to Waikato.
The position reports to the High Voltage Lead and acts as the on-site HV authority for planned works, outages, switching operations, fault response, and emergency events. This role goes beyond simple planning or coordination. It requires technical judgement and operational decision-making authority.
Day to day you can expect to:
Manage Live HV work (Isolation and Testing), unplanned faults and outages, switching schedules and isolation plans, ensuring safety compliance
Lead fault isolation, system restoration, and emergency response activities
Provide leadership, manage and coordinate contractors and internal teams across multiple sites
Make real-time adjustments to operational plans and switching activities and safety-critical decisions in the field
Maintain accurate records, permit registers, and technical reports
Carry out Visual & Intrusive Maintenance

To be successful in this role you will be a Registered Electrician or have Power Technician qualifications with extensive High Voltage switching and isolation experience.
You will also have experience in:
Developing switching schedules and plans
LOTO, permits, and Control of Works systems
Substations, HV equipment, and testing instruments
Collaboration across maintenance, operations, and contractors
Strong safety leadership and procedural discipline and integrity.
