Senior Platform Engineer

Masterpoint is hiring a North America-based Senior Platform Engineer to architect, automate, and deliver rock-solid cloud platforms for our clients using OpenTofu, Terraform, and modern IaC tooling.
Full-time. 100% remote (North America only). $150K to $180K base plus bonuses.

What you'll do
As a platform engineer, you'll spend your days building automated, secure platforms with IaC. You'll work hands-on with clients to design, build, document, and operate IaC workflows they can run with confidence.
• Write and automate IaC code to build and manage infrastructure across multiple clients
• Orchestrate infrastructure and applications running on AWS, GCP, Azure, and similar vendors
• Build automation pipelines (we're big on GitHub Actions and Spacelift)
• Use AI tools to generate IaC and automate infrastructure tasks, including provisioning, maintaining, and monitoring infrastructure
• Build and integrate AI-powered workflows to improve platform reliability, reduce toil, and accelerate delivery
• Stay current on AI tooling (LLMs, agents, automation platforms) and find places where AI-driven solutions reduce manual overhead
• Document, knowledge-share, and upskill so clients are ready to own their platform
• Give clients consultative advice on the right architecture, patterns, and way of thinking for their long-term success
• Script with Bash, Python, or TypeScript to glue things together when IaC isn't enough
• Integrate and automate 3rd-party SaaS tools (Spacelift, Tailscale, Datadog, etc.)
Must-haves
• Located in North America and currently authorized to work full-time in your country of residence. Masterpoint does not sponsor work visas for this position.
• Strong people and soft skills. You can't be a good teammate or consultant without knowing how to work with people. We value this above pretty much everything else.
• 3+ years hands-on in the modern IaC ecosystem (Terraform, OpenTofu, or Pulumi)
• Experience building infrastructure in the cloud. AWS and Azure are in top demand right now, but GCP is useful as well.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, and similar) and a strong willingness to integrate AI into your daily work
• 5+ years in the software industry
• Solid Unix background (Mac/Linux). Windows isn't our thing.
Nice-to-haves
• Terraform frameworks like Terragrunt, Atmos, or Terramate
• Policy as code, with a focus on OPA and Rego
• IaC orchestration tools like Spacelift, Atlantis, Terraform Cloud, or Scalr
• Real-world container orchestration experience (Kubernetes, ECS, or similar)
• SRE background and comfort with observability tooling
• Cloud security experience to help clients with compliance frameworks and infrastructure security remediation
• Broader IaC exposure (Crossplane, CDK, etc.)
• Experience building AI-powered automation for infrastructure operations
• Familiarity with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, or agentic workflows for operational automation
