Vice President of Project Management Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and execution-focused Vice President of Project Management to lead the company's global Project Management organization and drive successful delivery of strategic initiatives, complex programs, and high-impact projects.
The VP of Project Management will translate corporate objectives into structured project portfolios, scalable execution frameworks, measurable delivery plans, and effective governance processes. This executive will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with business objectives.
The VP will oversee Project Management, Program Management, Portfolio Management, PMO Governance, Resource Planning, Budget Management, Risk Management, Project Performance, and Continuous Improvement while working closely with Executive Leadership, Operations, Finance, Technology, Product, Sales, and other business functions.
Key Responsibilities1. Project Management Strategy
Develop and execute the company's global Project Management strategy.
Establish project management frameworks, methodologies, standards, and best practices.
Align project portfolios with corporate strategy and business priorities.
Establish project governance and decision-making frameworks.
Serve as a strategic advisor to Executive Leadership on project execution and delivery.
2. Strategic Project & Program Management
Lead complex, high-impact projects and strategic programs across the organization.
Translate strategic objectives into structured project plans and measurable outcomes.
Establish project priorities, milestones, deliverables, and success criteria.
Monitor project schedules, dependencies, resources, and delivery risks.
Ensure successful execution of critical business initiatives.
3. PMO Leadership & Governance
Build and manage a scalable Project Management Office (PMO).
Establish project governance, reporting, documentation, and review processes.
Standardize project management methodologies across teams and business units.
Develop executive-level project reporting and performance dashboards.
Ensure consistent project controls, accountability, and operational discipline.
4. Resource & Budget Management
Develop project resource plans and capacity requirements.
Partner with Finance and business leaders to establish and manage project budgets.
Optimize allocation of people, technology, and financial resources.
Monitor project costs, resource utilization, and financial performance.
Ensure projects deliver strong business value and return on investment.
5. Risk & Issue Management
Establish enterprise project risk management frameworks.
Identify project, operational, financial, technical, and delivery risks.
Develop mitigation and contingency strategies for high-impact risks.
Lead escalation and resolution of critical project issues.
Monitor risks throughout the project and program lifecycle.
6. Cross-Functional Leadership
Partner with Product, Technology, Engineering, Operations, Finance, Sales, Marketing, and other functions.
Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure effective project execution.
Resolve organizational dependencies and competing priorities.
Communicate project status, risks, and strategic decisions to senior leadership.
Build strong collaboration across departments and business units.
7. Project Performance & Continuous Improvement
Establish project KPIs, performance metrics, and delivery standards.
Monitor project performance, timelines, budgets, quality, and outcomes.
Identify opportunities to improve project delivery efficiency and predictability.
Implement process improvements, automation, and project management best practices.
Use data and analytics to improve project planning and decision-making.
8. Team Leadership & Organizational Development
Recruit, mentor, and develop Project Managers, Program Managers, PMO leaders, and project professionals.
Build and scale a high-performing global Project Management organization.
Establish career paths, competency frameworks, and performance management processes.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Develop future project management leaders and strengthen organizational capabilities.
QualificationsEducation
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Operations, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
Experience
20+ years of progressive experience in Project Management, Program Management, PMO, Operations, or related functions.
10+ years of senior leadership experience managing project or program organizations.
Proven experience managing complex, high-value, cross-functional projects and programs.
Experience leading global or multi-regional project portfolios.
Strong experience with project governance, budgets, resources, timelines, and risk management.
Demonstrated ability to build and scale PMO organizations and project management processes.
Strong executive communication, strategic planning, analytical, and decision-making skills.
