Role Description The Full Charge Bookkeeper is a part-time, remote role responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting activities of The Florida Orchestra. This position oversees the general ledger, prepares and maintains financial records, and reconciles accounts to ensure accurate reporting. Typical tasks include recording journal entries, processing payables and receivables, managing payroll-related entries, and supporting financial statement preparation. The role collaborates with leadership to provide timely financial information, assists with budgeting and audit preparation, and helps maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards and organizational policies. The Full Charge Bookkeeper works independently, prioritizing tasks to meet reporting deadlines and supporting the financial health of the organization.
Qualifications
Strong bookkeeping and general Accounting skills, including maintaining the general ledger and handling day-to-day financial transactions
Experience preparing Financial Statements and supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting
Proficiency in recording and reviewing Journal Entries (Accounting) for accuracy and completeness
Knowledge of Payroll Taxes and related compliance requirements
Experience with accounting software and spreadsheet tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel or similar)
Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a remote environment
Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with non-financial stakeholders
Relevant education in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience; nonprofit or arts organization experience is a plus
