RMGME is accepting applications for a Psychiatry Residency Program Director. This is a full-time physician leadership role. The Program Director reports to the Designated Institutional Official (DIO) and the Vice President of Graduate Medical Education, and is accountable to the RMGME Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) and the ACGME.
About the Psychiatry Residency Program
The Psychiatry Residency is a four-year program sponsored by RMGME [ACGME status: accredited / pursuing initial accreditation], with [#] PGY-1 positions per year. The program trains psychiatrists to care for complex, underserved patients in community and safety-net settings. Residents train at [primary site] and at affiliated consortium sites, including [continuity clinic / FQHC partners]. The Program Director will lead the program through [initial accreditation and launch / continued growth] and shape its curriculum, faculty, and culture from the ground up.
About RMGME
RMGME is a consortium-based GME Sponsoring Institution that partners with hospitals, community health centers, and FQHCs to build residency programs where physician shortages are greatest. Our mission is to expand access to care by training physicians in the communities that need them most. RMGME is part of an ecosystem that includes Residents Medical Group, edYOU Technologies, and the Everest Family Foundation.
Responsibilities
Lead the program's educational curriculum and maintain compliance with ACGME Common and Psychiatry-Specific Program Requirements, including curriculum development, resident evaluation and feedback, policy development, duty-hour monitoring, and resident well-being
Prepare and manage accreditation submissions, site visits, the Annual Program Evaluation, and ADS updates
Approximately [60]% administrative time and [40]% clinical effort, subject to program size and Associate Program Director support
Oversee clinical rotations, didactics, psychotherapy training, assessment, advising, and scholarly activity
Lead resident recruitment and selection through ERAS and the NRMP Match
Oversee resident onboarding, orientation, training, and evaluations
Chair the Clinical Competency Committee and Program Evaluation Committee, or appoint and oversee their chairs
Recruit, develop, and evaluate core faculty
Coordinate with leadership at consortium and affiliate training sites, and manage Program Letters of Agreement
Provide direct clinical care and resident supervision at a training site
Participate in GMEC meetings and RMGME institutional initiatives
Contribute to strategic planning and growth of RMGME's psychiatry and behavioral health training
Other projects and duties as assigned
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
MD or DO degree
Current certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in Psychiatry, or qualifications acceptable to the Review Committee
Current California medical license, or eligibility to obtain one before start date
At least three (3) years of documented educational and/or administrative experience in an ACGME-accredited training program
Demonstrated record of teaching, clinical leadership, and educational program development
Preferred Qualifications
Experience launching a new residency program or leading an initial accreditation
Experience with community-based, safety-net, or FQHC settings
Experience working with diverse and underserved patient populations
Commitment to the highest standards of ethics and professional integrity
Additional language skills (Spanish strongly preferred)
