Forgent is a specialty recruiter for financial services firms. Our client is an SEC registered RIA and multi family office managing about $140 million for roughly 52 families, with a five year goal of $500 million. This seat exists for one reason: to bring in assets. There is no book to inherit and no portfolio to manage. Two in house portfolio managers run the investing, and an operations lead handles account opening, documentation, and service. Your day is prospecting, closing, and owning the relationships you build.
Let's talk about you
You are already producing, or you are certain you could be if someone would just get out of your way. Maybe you are at a Fidelity, a Raymond James, or an Edward Jones, and the math has stopped making sense. You bring the client, the firm keeps most of the revenue, and half your week disappears into model portfolios, compliance queues, and service tickets that have nothing to do with growth. Maybe you are not in financial services at all. You are media savvy, well connected, and you happen to know a lot of people with real money, and you have wondered what it would look like to monetize that properly.
Either way, the thing that makes you right for this is not your pedigree. It is that you are hungry, you are comfortable with the phone and the ask, and you do not need anyone standing over you to make 40 outreaches before noon. You either have the relationships already or you have the discipline to build them from nothing, campaign by campaign.
Why it's worth a look
Your payout is bigger than it looks. A 30% payout here is not a 30% payout at a firm that charges expenses back to you. This firm carries compliance, Bloomberg, systems, rent, and overhead entirely, and pays you on gross revenue. The founder puts the true equivalent closer to 45 to 50% on a cost split basis.
Equity is a defined number, not a someday. Bring $30 to $40 million and the equity conversation starts. Equity holders take firm level distributions, and most cash gets distributed rather than retained, plus a payout at a liquidity event. The founder is 46, in no hurry to sell, and wants to be at $500 million before any conversation about a sale happens.
You would be selling something real. Individual security selection across equity and fixed income with real time monitoring, no funds and no ETFs, plus allocations into infrastructure and triple net lease private funds. The track record is strong enough that the firm is now fielding pension fund calls.
Flexible by design. Trade base for a higher payout, or the reverse. Work remote or from the office. Run your own strategies if you want to, subject to compliance. The founder will join your prospect calls, train you over video, and make himself available to close.
