NewsFlash NGR is looking for a sharp, creative and reliable News & Entertainment Blogger to join our growing digital media team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for finding, researching and publishing engaging stories on our website, with a strong focus on viral news, Nigerian current affairs, entertainment, celebrity stories and trending social media topics.
Success in this role means consistently identifying interesting stories early, producing accurate and engaging articles, and publishing quality content regularly with minimal supervision.
This role is an important part of our growth as we work to increase the volume, quality and reach of NewsFlash NGR content.
Responsibilities
Research and identify breaking, viral and trending stories suitable for publication.
Write and publish engaging news and entertainment articles regularly.
Monitor social media platforms and other credible sources for emerging stories and trends.
Cover Nigerian news, politics, entertainment, celebrity stories and other topics relevant to our audience.
Rewrite and develop stories from credible sources while maintaining accuracy and originality.
Create attention-grabbing headlines without misleading readers.
Apply basic SEO practices to articles to improve search visibility.
Use WordPress or similar publishing platforms to format and publish articles.
Verify important facts and information before publication.
Keep up with current events, entertainment trends and stories with strong audience potential.
Work independently and maintain a consistent publishing schedule.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a blogger, content writer, journalist or online news writer.
Strong knowledge of Nigerian news, entertainment and social media trends.
Excellent written English and strong storytelling ability.
Ability to quickly identify stories with strong viral or audience potential.
Good research and fact-checking skills.
Basic knowledge of SEO and online publishing.
Experience with WordPress is an advantage.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to meet consistent publishing expectations and deadlines.
A portfolio of published articles or writing samples is required.
Salary: ₦60,000 per month.
