About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

At Tenzing, we help organisations solve complex business and technology challenges through practical consulting, delivery excellence, and deep expertise. We're looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead a major data services workstream within a large-scale transformation programme.
About the role
This is a delivery leadership role rather than a hands-on technical position. You will be responsible for bringing structure, pace, and transparency to a critical data workstream while partnering closely with Tenzing's Data Lead and specialist consultants.
You'll be joining a complex, multi-party enterprise transformation involving data migration, quality, governance, reconciliation, testing, and cutover activities. Success will require strong planning, stakeholder management, commercial awareness, and the ability to coordinate multiple moving parts across a large programme.
Applicants must be Auckland based and already hold the legal right to work in New Zealand.
What you'll be doing
Leading delivery planning, scheduling, and workstream governance.
Managing risks, issues, dependencies, and change control.
Coordinating Tenzing consultants and client stakeholders.
Providing clear and accurate reporting to programme and executive leadership.
Managing delivery against agreed scope, milestones, budgets, and commercial commitments.
Coordinating deliverables through review, approval, and acceptance processes.
Working across client teams, implementation partners, and suppliers to ensure successful outcomes.
Driving accountability, collaboration, and delivery discipline across the workstream.
About you
You'll be an experienced Project Manager who thrives in complex environments and knows how to keep delivery moving while maintaining strong governance and stakeholder confidence.
We're looking for someone with:
10+ years' experience managing complex technology projects or programmes.
Strong delivery management, governance, planning, financial, and risk management skills.
Experience leading multi-stream programmes involving diverse stakeholders and suppliers.
Practical understanding of data migration, data quality, testing, reconciliation, governance, and cutover activities.
Experience leading teams of consultants, analysts, architects, engineers, and subject matter experts.
Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging with senior executives and programme leaders.
Commercial acumen and experience managing delivery against contractual commitments.
The ability to work through ambiguity, establish momentum quickly, and maintain delivery control.
Desirable experience
Data migration or ERP transformation programmes.
Consulting or professional services environments.
Multi-vendor delivery programmes.
Oracle Fusion, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Azure, or Databricks environments.
PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent project management certification.
Experience working within New Zealand government or highly governed organisations.
What will make you successful
You'll
demonstrate:
Consulting mindset – able to understand client challenges, provide trusted advice, and contribute to successful outcomes.
Technical expertise – applying specialist data knowledge to design and deliver practical, high-quality solutions across data platforms, engineering, integration, migration, analytics, and governance.
Problem solving and initiative – proactively identifying issues, investigating options, and driving solutions through to completion.
Collaboration and leadership – building strong relationships with clients and colleagues while supporting the development of others.
Commercial awareness – understanding client priorities, delivery risks, quality expectations, and business outcomes.
Adaptability and curiosity – embracing new technologies, continually developing skills, and contributing to innovation across the practice.
