About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Structural and Architectural Estimator with a strong background in Australian construction projects to join our client’s team. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in preparing accurate cost estimates, interpreting project plans and specifications, and providing detailed take-offs for structural works. This role requires attention to detail, advanced technical knowledge, and the ability to work closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
● Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for structural projects (commercial, residential, and civil).
● Conduct material quantity take-offs and labor cost calculations.
● Review architectural and engineering drawings to ensure accuracy of estimates.
● Develop and maintain cost databases, unit rates, and benchmark figures.
● Provide feasibility studies and budget estimates during early project phases.
● Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders for pricing and procurement.
● Support tender preparation, bid submissions, and contract negotiations.
● Ensure compliance with Australian building codes, standards, and industry best practices.
● Provide regular updates and reporting to project managers and senior leadership.
● Identify potential risks, cost-saving opportunities, and value-engineering solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
● Minimum 2+ years experience as a Structural Estimator in Australia (essential).
● Strong knowledge of Australian construction practices, codes, and standards.
● Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Buildsoft, Cubit, CostX, Bluebeam, Benchmark or similar).
● Solid understanding of structural systems, concrete, steel, timber, and civil works.
● Experience in both commercial and residential projects preferred.
● Advanced Excel and cost modeling skills.
● Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
● Strong communication and negotiation skills.
● Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality outputs.
