Role Description The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering role at Dayananda Sagar University involves full-time engagement in advanced research, teaching support, and academic collaboration on campus in Bengaluru. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and conducting original research in mechanical engineering domains, performing experiments or simulations, analyzing data, and publishing results in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. The role also includes contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching through tutorials, lab supervision, and mentoring student projects. Doctoral scholars are expected to collaborate with faculty, industry partners, and interdisciplinary teams, participate in seminars and workshops, and support grant proposals and sponsored research activities. Engagement with DSU’s high-performance computing and advanced laboratories to address real-world engineering problems is central to this on-site role.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in core Mechanical Engineering areas such as solid mechanics, thermal sciences, fluid mechanics, materials science, or manufacturing.
Competence in research methodologies, including problem formulation, literature review, experimental design or computational modeling, and data analysis.
Experience with relevant engineering software and tools (e.g., CAD/CAE packages, FEA/CFD tools, programming for simulations or data processing).
Ability to communicate research clearly through technical writing, presentations, and publication in scholarly venues.
Capacity for independent work and collaborative teamwork within academic and industry-oriented research environments.
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline from a recognized institution; exceptional bachelor’s degree holders may be considered as per DSU norms.
Demonstrated research potential through thesis work, publications, patents, or industry projects.
Interest in leveraging advanced computing resources and industry partnerships to address contemporary engineering and AI-integrated mechanical systems challenges.
