Role Description The Counselor role is a part-time (10-15 contact hours per week), remote position focused on guiding students through the college admissions process. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting one-on-one counseling sessions, helping students identify suitable universities and programs, and supporting them in building competitive application profiles. The counselor will assist students with planning standardized test timelines, reviewing application materials such as personal statements and resumes, and providing feedback on essays and short answers. The role also includes monitoring student progress, maintaining regular communication with students and families, and collaborating with other tutors and staff to ensure high-quality, consistent support. Counselors are expected to uphold DREAM’s commitment to inclusivity, ethical advising, and student success.
Qualifications
Strong counseling and advising skills, with the ability to support students from diverse backgrounds in academic and career decision-making.
English C1 level.
Knowledge of international college admissions processes, particularly for universities in the US, Canada, and Europe, including familiarity with SAT, TOEFL, IELTS, and IB pathways.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening, clear written communication, and the ability to provide constructive, empathetic feedback.
Organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple students, track progress, and meet deadlines in a remote, part-time setting.
Comfort with digital tools and online platforms used for virtual meetings, document sharing, and student progress tracking.
Experience as a student or graduate of competitive universities or prior work in college counseling, education, or mentoring is highly beneficial.
