Role Description The Business Development Officer role at PhonePe is a full-time, on-site position based in Purnia. In this role, the team member identifies and acquires new merchants and partners, builds strong relationships, and promotes PhonePe’s payment and financial solutions. Daily responsibilities include meeting prospective clients, explaining product features and benefits, negotiating terms, and ensuring smooth onboarding. The role also involves tracking performance metrics, gathering market feedback, collaborating with internal teams to improve offerings, and providing ongoing support to merchants to drive usage and growth. The Business Development Officer is expected to maintain high standards of professionalism, represent PhonePe in the local market, and contribute to regional business targets.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong New Business Development skills, including lead generation, prospecting, and deal closure.
Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills to interpret data, assess performance, and identify growth opportunities.
Candidates should possess a foundational understanding of Finance to explain payment and financial products clearly and accurately.
Candidates should possess excellent Communication skills for pitching solutions, negotiating, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
Candidates should possess strong Customer Service skills to support merchants, resolve issues, and maintain long-term relationships.
Relevant experience in sales, business development, or financial services is beneficial.
A bachelor’s degree in business, commerce, finance, or a related field is preferred.
Familiarity with digital payments or fintech and local market knowledge in Purnia will be an advantage.
Ability to work independently in the field, meet targets, and maintain accurate records of activities and outcomes.
