Role Overview:
We’re looking for a Freelance Creative Technologist who is a Unity Generalist with experience in WebGL builds and Timeline-based animation systems. You’ll be working on interactive web experiences that combine animation, physics, and performance-conscious design.
Responsibilities:
Build and optimize Unity scenes for WebGL deployment
Use Timeline to drive scripted sequences, object animations, and environmental effects
Integrate UI, VFX, audio, and logic in a cohesive, performant package
Collaborate with artists, designers, and developers in a fast-moving, creative environment
Debug and test across browsers and hardware configurations
Requirements:
Strong Unity experience (3+ years preferred)
Proficiency with WebGL export and related constraints (compression, memory usage, etc.)
Solid knowledge of Unity Timeline and Animation systems
Experience with C# scripting and modular architecture
Attention to performance and compatibility, especially in web browser contexts
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
Bonus Points:
Shader Graph or custom shader experience
Experience with DOTS or Addressables
Working knowledge and examples of Unity-adjacent technologies like Three.js would be highly valued.
The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $65-$75, but may vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role.
