Role Summary
The DevOps Chapter Lead will provide technical leadership across a multi-cloud environment, with AWS serving as the organization's strategic cloud platform while maintaining governance, operational oversight, and ongoing support for existing Azure-based services. This role is responsible for leading the DevOps Chapter, driving cloud engineering standards, and enabling secure, scalable, and highly automated platform operations across the organization.
Key Responsibilities & Expectations
Lead and mentor the DevOps Chapter, establishing best practices for cloud engineering, automation, platform reliability, and DevSecOps across Azure and AWS environments.
Design, implement, and manage enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure solutions across Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Define and execute multi-cloud architecture strategies, governance frameworks, and operational standards.
Lead cloud migration, modernization, and transformation initiatives involving Azure, AWS, and hybrid-cloud environments.
Serve as a hands-on technical leader responsible for cloud platform engineering, infrastructure automation, and delivery excellence.
Review business and technical requirements to design secure, scalable, resilient, and highly available cloud-native solutions.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps toolchains using Azure DevOps, GitHub, Git, Jenkins, SonarQube, Nexus, Terraform, Azure Bicep, and AWS CloudFormation.
Lead infrastructure provisioning and configuration management through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices across Azure and AWS.
Manage cloud networking, identity and access management, security controls, governance policies, and cost optimization initiatives in both cloud platforms.
Support and oversee deployment of business-critical workloads, databases, and applications across Azure and AWS environments.
Implement and maintain observability, monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident management solutions using native and third-party tools.
Drive Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, platform resilience, Business Continuity (BC), and Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies.
Champion DevSecOps practices, cloud security frameworks, compliance requirements, and security automation across engineering teams.
Collaborate with architecture, engineering, security, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing technology solutions.
Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and provide technical direction for continuous improvement and innovation.
Required Background & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
8+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
Proven experience leading technical teams and driving DevOps, cloud, and platform engineering practices.
Expert-level knowledge of AWS cloud services, architecture, security, governance, and operations in enterprise environments.
Strong experience designing, implementing, and supporting solutions on Microsoft Azure, with the ability to provide technical leadership and governance across Azure environments.
Experience defining and executing cloud transformation, modernization, migration, or platform engineering initiatives.
Strong hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and cloud provisioning technologies such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Azure Bicep, or equivalent tools.
Experience implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar platforms.
Solid understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
Strong knowledge of cloud security, networking, monitoring, resiliency, disaster recovery, and operational best practices.
Experience supporting scalable, highly available, and mission-critical cloud platforms.
Proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar languages.
Strong stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
Relevant AWS and/or Azure certifications are highly desirable.
