Summary: About the Role:
At Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, the work happening behind the scenes is just as important as the care happening at the bedside. We're seeking a Specialty Medical Billing Supervisor to lead a team responsible for the billing and reimbursement of some of the most advanced cancer treatments available today.
In this role, you'll provide day-to-day leadership for billing operations supporting complex oncology services such as Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), CAR-T therapy, Gamma Knife radiosurgery, robotic-assisted procedures, and other highly specialized treatments. You'll help ensure claims are processed accurately and efficiently, support your team’s success, and work collaboratively across departments to minimize denials and optimize reimbursement.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced healthcare billing professional who enjoys leading people, solving complex reimbursement challenges, and supporting an organization dedicated to improving the lives of patients with cancer.
The starting annual salary for this position is $73,755 and this can include a full comprehensive benefits package.
What You'll Do:
As the leader of a specialized billing team, you will:
Oversee daily billing operations for complex oncology and specialty services
Monitor work queues, claim quality, and team productivity to ensure timely claim submission and follow-up
Support staff performance, workflow management, and operational efficiency
Review high-dollar and high-complexity accounts to identify reimbursement risks and resolution strategies
Guide the resolution of complicated billing issues involving authorizations, medical necessity requirements, payer policies, and reimbursement disputes
Lead escalations and appeals for high-value denied or underpaid claims
Partner with coding, clinical, patient access, utilization review, managed care, and other operational teams to improve processes and resolve barriers
Help prevent denials by ensuring billing practices align with payer requirements and regulatory guidelines
Analyze trends and prepare reports on productivity, denial performance, claim quality, and operational metrics
Support internal audits, compliance initiatives, and revenue integrity efforts
Assist patients and payers with billing inquiries while promoting a positive customer experience
Provide ongoing coaching, education, and mentorship to billing team members
What You'll Bring:
You may be a great fit if you:
Have experience leading healthcare billing, revenue cycle, or reimbursement teams
Understand hospital and professional billing processes, insurance requirements, and claims management
Have experience with complex healthcare services, specialty reimbursement, oncology billing, or other high-acuity medical specialties
Are skilled at resolving denials, payment variances, and reimbursement challenges
Enjoy coaching and developing team members
Can balance operational priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and compliance
Communicate effectively with staff, providers, payers, and organizational leaders
Use data and reporting to identify trends, improve performance, and support decision-making
Thrive in a fast-paced environment where problem-solving and collaboration are essential
Who Will Be Successful in This Role:
The ideal candidate is both a strong leader and a subject matter expert. They understand the complexities of healthcare reimbursement and know how to motivate a team while maintaining high standards of quality and accountability.
Successful individuals in this role are:
People-focused leaders who enjoy developing and mentoring others
Analytical thinkers who can navigate complex reimbursement scenarios
Strong communicators who build productive relationships across departments
Proactive problem-solvers who look for opportunities to improve workflows and reduce denials
Detail-oriented professionals who are committed to compliance, accuracy, and operational excellence
Driven by the understanding that their work directly supports patient care and organizational success
Why You'll Love Working Here:
At Roswell Park, you'll be part of a nationally recognized cancer center where every role contributes to a mission larger than ourselves: eliminating cancer through patient care, research, education, and community engagement.
When you join our team, you'll enjoy:
Meaningful work that directly supports patients receiving life-saving cancer treatment
The opportunity to work alongside highly skilled clinical, operational, and administrative professionals
A collaborative environment that values innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement
Opportunities for professional growth, leadership development, and ongoing learning
The chance to make a measurable impact on both the patient experience and organizational success
A mission-driven culture focused on advancing cancer care and improving lives
If you're an experienced healthcare billing leader looking to combine your operational expertise with a purpose-driven mission, we encourage you to apply and become part of the Roswell Park team.
