About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Java Softwareentwickler (m/w/d) to join our dynamic team in Dortmund or Berlin. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence the future of higher education by developing and enhancing our innovative system for university place allocation across Germany. As part of a collaborative and agile work environment, you will be involved in the full software development lifecycle, from conception to deployment, ensuring the system remains robust, scalable, and user-friendly. This position is available in full-time or part-time formats, providing flexibility to accommodate your work-life balance. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for creating impactful digital solutions.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a university degree in computer science or a comparable IT-related field, along with at least three years of practical experience in software development within an agile Scrum environment. Proficiency in backend development with Spring Boot or frontend development using React/Next.js and TypeScript is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a results-oriented approach, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Fluency in German (C1 or higher) and good English skills (B2 or higher) are required. Additional advantageous skills include experience with SQL (e.g., MariaDB), NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes, messaging systems including Apache Kafka, responsive and mobile design, accessibility standards (BITV 2.0), SSO/IAM technologies (e.g., Keycloak), and CI/CD pipelines.
Responsibilities
As a Java Softwareentwickler, your primary responsibilities will include participating in the technical development of our innovative system for university admissions. You will be part of a team of approximately 18 developers, contributing to the design, implementation, and optimization of core functionalities. Your tasks will involve working with a diverse tech stack that includes Java Spring Boot, React/Next.js, and Apache Kafka, ensuring seamless integration and performance. You will deploy and orchestrate applications within our Kubernetes cluster, maintaining high availability and security standards. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into technical solutions, perform code reviews, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Maintaining documentation, supporting testing efforts, and ensuring system compliance with accessibility and security standards will also be part of your role.
