Your Role at impact.com
impact.com's content team is expanding what we do with our first-party data and research — annual benchmark reports, survey-based studies, and the extended content built from them. We need a dedicated owner for this work: someone who can take findings from our research team and turn them into publish-ready content that tells a clear, arguable story, and who owns the end-to-end distribution of that content.
This role sits alongside our Marketing research team (Manager of Market Research and Analytics and a market research specialist) as the writing and content arm of impact.com's research function. You are not a researcher or an analyst — you're a content marketer with strong data literacy, who understands how to shape a dataset into a story for marketers, not for other analysts.
What You'll Do
End-to-end briefing and writing for all impact.com benchmark reports, survey-based studies, and first-party data content
Translating findings from research studies into content briefs, narrative angles, and a clear editorial spine — every report needs an arguable point of view, not just a summary of the data
Full ownership of distribution for research content: planning and executing email, social, and cross-channel promotion in partnership with the social and lifecycle teams
Judgment calls on when data should be visualized versus narrated — partnering with design and research to keep reports tight and visual-forward rather than dense and text-heavy
Maintaining editorial standards on all research content: thesis discipline, three-tier source attribution, citation integrity, and AIO/GEO compliance
Building and improving AI-assisted workflows (Claude, Gemini) for research content production
What Success Looks Like at 6 Months
You have taken complete ownership of briefing, crafting, and promoting research content—relieving our existing content marketing managers who handled this alongside their primary beats. Our research initiatives now feature a cohesive narrative voice backed by a scalable workflow, solidly positioning you as a core pillar within the research team.
What You Bring
5+ years of content marketing experience, ideally in B2B or SaaS
A portfolio that demonstrates strong, publish-ready long-form writing on data-driven topics (benchmark reports, whitepapers, industry studies)
Strong data literacy — comfortable reading survey results and analytics output and shaping them into a narrative, without needing to run the analysis yourself
Collaborative, not solo — work closely with Marketing Research to strike a balance, which means give-and-take, not full creative control over final framing.
Experience owning content distribution end-to-end, not just writing and handing off — from campaign coordination and design assets to sales/CS enablement, publication, and post-launch reporting and optimization
Comfort using AI tools (Claude, Gemini, or equivalent) as part of a daily writing and research workflow, with a genuine interest in building repeatable workflows with them
Excellent editorial judgment, including knowing when a chart should do the talking instead of another paragraph
Ability to translate what data means for different audiences — shaping the same finding into language that resonates
Willingness to build both muscles — data fluency and storytelling. We've seen writers learn to think in data and researchers learn to tell stories marketers gravitate toward; what matters is the openness to build if you’re missing one
