Position Title: Project Manager – Construction / Civil Engineering
Location: Guinea
Reports To: Sub Saharan Africa : Supply Chain Operations Leader

Job Purpose
The Project Manager will be responsible for leading and delivering construction and civil engineering projects from initiation through to completion. The role requires strong project management capabilities, technical knowledge of civil and construction activities, and a thorough understanding of Guinean legislation, permitting requirements, labor regulations, environmental compliance, and construction standards.
The successful candidate must be fluent in both French and English, enabling effective communication with local authorities, contractors, consultants, clients, and international stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Execution
Lead the planning, coordination, execution, monitoring, and closure of construction and civil engineering projects.
Develop project execution strategies, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and risk management plans.
Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality requirements.
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including engineers, architects, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
Monitor project performance against key milestones and implement corrective actions where necessary.
Contract and Commercial Management
Manage construction contracts and subcontractor agreements.
Review and negotiate variations, claims, and commercial matters.
Monitor project costs and cash flow forecasts.
Ensure adherence to contractual obligations and project specifications.
Prepare and present progress reports to senior management and clients.
Regulatory and Compliance Management
Ensure compliance with all applicable Guinean laws, regulations, and permitting requirements.
Manage relationships with government agencies, local municipalities, and regulatory bodies.
Secure and maintain required construction permits, environmental approvals, and operational licenses.
Ensure compliance with local labor legislation and employment regulations.
Maintain compliance with environmental and social impact requirements.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Management
Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all project activities.
Ensure compliance with project HSE policies and local regulatory requirements.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits.
Investigate incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Ensure environmental management plans are implemented effectively.
Stakeholder Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and key stakeholders.
Manage communication between local and international project teams.
Facilitate stakeholder engagement and community relations initiatives where required.
Prepare and deliver project presentations and executive progress updates.
Quality Management
Establish quality control procedures and ensure compliance with project specifications.
Review technical documentation, drawings, and engineering deliverables.
Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, and project handover activities.
Ensure lessons learned are captured and incorporated into future projects.
What do we need to know about you?
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related discipline.
Professional Project Management certification preferred (PMP, PRINCE2, PMI-SP, or equivalent).
Experience
Minimum 8-10 years of project management experience preferably in the construction and civil engineering industry.
Proven experience managing medium to large-scale infrastructure, industrial, mining, transportation, educational, commercial, or public works projects.
Experience working in Guinea or West Africa is highly desirable.
Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, schedules, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
Language Requirements
Fluency in French (written and spoken).
Fluency in English (written and spoken).
Ability to prepare reports, presentations, technical documentation, and contractual correspondence in both languages.
Technical Knowledge
A good understanding of:
Guinean construction regulations and permitting processes.
Guinean labor and employment legislation.
Environmental and social compliance requirements.
Contract administration and commercial management.
Civil engineering design and construction practices.
Project scheduling software (Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project).
Cost control and project reporting systems.
