Job Description
Position Summary
As a Senior Engineer, Systems Design, you will be a key technical leader within our Desktop Scanning Electron Microscopy (DTS) organization. You will translate product and customer requirements into robust system architectures and guide multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
You will work across software, electronics, mechanics, manufacturing, quality, and service to ensure our Desktop SEM products achieve the right balance of performance, reliability, manufacturability, quality, and cost.
This role is part of the expansion of our Brno Development Center. You will collaborate closely with our Innovation and Architecture team in Eindhoven, helping strengthen systems engineering capabilities and technical expertise in Brno.
Our Technology
Our Desktop SEM business develops advanced scanning electron microscopes used worldwide in materials science, manufacturing, research, and quality assurance. Our products combine:
Electron optics and vacuum technology
Precision mechanics and mechatronics
Embedded electronics
Scientific software and user interfaces
Image acquisition and analysis
Manufacturing automation and system integration
Key Responsibilities
Define and maintain system architectures for Desktop SEM products.
Translate customer and product needs into system requirements and designs.
Decompose requirements across software, electronics, mechanics, and manufacturing.
Define and manage interfaces between subsystems and engineering disciplines.
Lead technical trade-offs and help resolve complex multidisciplinary challenges.
Define system integration, verification, and validation strategies.
Assess technical risks and the system impact of engineering changes.
Provide technical leadership during design reviews, system integration, and product investigations.
Ensure system designs meet performance, reliability, quality, manufacturability, serviceability, and cost objectives.
Support product development and quality processes, including engineering change control.
Coach engineers in systems engineering methods and facilitate knowledge transfer between Eindhoven and Brno.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physics, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
Extensive experience developing complex multidisciplinary products in a high-tech R&D environment.
Strong experience in systems engineering, system architecture, or complex product design.
Experience leading technical work across multiple engineering disciplines.
Experience with requirements engineering, system integration, and verification and validation.
Strong understanding of interfaces between software, electronics, mechanics, and manufacturing.
Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills in English.
Nice to Have
Experience with SEM or scientific instrumentation, electron optics, vacuum technology, precision mechatronics, embedded electronics, software architecture, MBSE, Jama, PLM, or similar engineering tools would be an advantage.
