About the teamAt Zillow Group, we are constantly innovating ways to operate, monetize, and improve our nationwide real estate marketplace. The Data Science, Analytics and Engineering team supports several lines of business across the company by partnering closely with business leaders and engineering to model, analyze, and surface business relevant metrics that inform both short- and long-term decision-making. Our structure is very flat and you will soon find yourself interacting directly across a wide variety of roles.
Zillow Group is a strategic, mission-driven organization focused on delivering exceptional experiences and measurable outcomes. Our work spans cross-functional partnership, scalable programs and operational excellence in support of Zillow’s mission. We bring deep experience working across diverse teams in a dynamic, high-growth environment, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution to drive meaningful business impact. We are seeking an experienced professional to support our workforce expansion in India.
About the role
As an Analytics Engineer, you'll build and own the data models and metric definitions that stakeholders across Zillow depend on for consumer analytics, including marketing, lead generation, and site traffic. You’ll work with your team and your stakeholders within business domains to create and manage the metrics that drive day-to-day operations and strategic priorities. You'll write transformation code, implement performant metrics as trusted data products, build data-quality tests, and document your work so people and increasingly, AI systems can trust and build on top of the foundation you lay.
You Will Get To
Build and maintain dimensional data models and metric definitions using SQL and dbt (or equivalent)
Design data-quality tests, monitoring, and alerting so your data products are trusted by default
Partner with data engineering to define upstream requirements and fix data-quality issues at the source
Work directly with US-based BI analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders to understand what they actually need, not just what they wrote down
Contribute to semantic layer definitions that make metrics usable by BI tools, data scientists, and AI systems alike
This role has been categorized as an Office position. “Office” employees regularly work at the Zillow India office for approximately 80 to 100 percent of their time each month. Employees must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the office. Zillow has not defined a reasonable distance, and expects employees will use judgment in determining this for themselves and understand the implications re: time commitment and cost of daily commute.
Who you are
2+ years of professional data experience, with metrics-as-code and semantic modelling preferred
Strong SQL, with understanding of how grain, joins, and schema evolution affect relational modeling and metric implementation
Experience with dbt or an equivalent transformation framework, plus Git and CI/CD basics
Comfort operating across a large time-zone gap; proactive asynchronous communication
A track record of evolving how AI systems, conversational analytics tools, and machine learning workflows consume structured data
Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, or similar) and BI tools (Tableau, Looker, or similar)
Zillow values the experience and perspective of candidates with non-traditional backgrounds — we encourage you to apply if you have transferable skills
