Position Summary: The Business Analyst supports Product, Operations, Engineering, and Quality Engineering in the analysis, documentation, refinement, and delivery of business requirements for the CHIPS application, a critical system for global payments. This role develops and applies working knowledge of CHIPS business processes, payment flows, application functionality, system interfaces, and operational workflows. The Business Analyst works with Product and business stakeholders to ensure requirements and acceptance criteria are clear, complete, testable, and traceable and partners with Engineering and Quality Engineering to identify application impacts, dependencies, and potential requirement gaps throughout the software development lifecycle.
This role combines business analysis, payments knowledge, and technical aptitude and offers an opportunity to build valuable expertise in financial technology and payment processing. The Business Analyst is expected to develop and grow functional and application knowledge of critical payment systems, use that knowledge to analyze business requests and potential impacts, and build a strong foundation for continued career growth in business and systems analysis.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
2-6 years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, technology, financial services, payments, or a related field. Relevant experience from other analytical, operations, or technology roles may be considered.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to organize information, identify inconsistencies or gaps, and understand business processes and system behavior.
Strong technical aptitude and demonstrated ability to learn complex business applications, workflows, interfaces, data flows, and processing concepts.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and a high level of attention to detail, with the ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical team members.
Ability to work with Product Owners, business stakeholders, and technical teams to elicit, analyze, document, and refine business and functional requirements into well-defined user stories with clear and testable business acceptance criteria.
Ability and willingness to work in an Agile software development environment and to apply practices associated with software delivery.
Qualifications Desired:
Internship, academic, or professional experience within financial services, banking, payments, financial technology, or another technology-focused environment.
Familiarity with wire transfers, payment processing, CHIPS, Fedwire, or other banking/payment systems and an interest in developing knowledge of high-value payment and settlement processing.
Familiarity with Agile development practices and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
Familiarity with financial messaging concepts or standards, such as ISO 20022, is a plus.
Experience using AI-enabled tools to support analysis, research, documentation, or other productivity activities is a plus.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Requirements Analysis and Documentation: Work with Product, Operations, Engineering, Quality Engineering, and other stakeholders with gathering, analyzing, documenting, and refining business and functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting process flows.
Business and System Analysis: Develop knowledge of CHIPS applications and payment processing, and use that knowledge to understand existing functionality, assess potential impacts of proposed changes, and identify dependencies or requirement gaps.
Agile Delivery and Collaboration: Participate in Agile activities to support development and testing, and help deliver solutions that meet business needs while progressively developing the ability to clarify requirements and expected system behavior.
Requirements Traceability and Application Documentation: Maintain requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation in Jira and other approved repositories and assist with maintaining system and process documentation needed to preserve application knowledge and support audit, risk, regulatory, and control activities.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. Travel may be required. Candidates will report to the office three days each week. Onsite work requirements may change at any time.
For New York based candidates, the anticipated annual salary range for this position is up to $120,000. Base salary will be determined by the role, experience, skill set and location. For eligible positions, discretionary incentive compensation may be awarded contingent on personal and company performance.
