Job Purpose
Collateral Manager will be primarily responsible for the oversight & management of the valuation process of various types of properties undertaken as collateral securities, e.g. residential, commercial, industrial, etc. for two credit program portfolios under IBG 4- Credit Program (Small) and Credit Program (Medium) and for other programs in IBG 3 & 4 as necessary.
Key Accounatbilities and Requirements
Adopt a dynamic risk management approach to pro-actively monitor the collateral valuation trends for various types of properties in different locations where DBS has taken / proposes to take properties as security.
Keep a track of concentrations in type of collateral security or geography and highlight in case of any adverse changes in property rates in that area for corrective action
Scrutinise valuation reports on a sample basis and check for appropriateness of valuation being provided by empanelled valuers.
Manage day to day valuation related issues and provide technical support for decision on exceptions / deviations pointed out by empanelled valuer by factoring in nuances and working with key stakeholders to ensure robust risk management of the collateral valuation related issues.
Review profile of valuers and provide necessary recommendations for empanelment.
Job Duties & responsibilities
To have a sound knowledge of the valuation process and trends in terms of risks associated with various types of properties, geographies and products.
To have a working knowledge of the general Legal / regulatory framework in which the bank operates in India and apply the same.
To apply knowledge of RBI Regulations/ MAS Guidelines that govern collateral valuations, including the Loan Grading, Provisioning and Asset Classification regulations and to update Local credit / Lending Policies as applicable.
To comply with regulatory, audit and statutory requirements and assist in inspections and audit (external and internal) inputs in all credit areas pertaining to collateral title and valuation.
To compile Management MIS / reports for Credit Committee, other forums, as applicable
Conduct risk forum with business partners and follow up with system/ process enhancement, where required, to ensure robust collateral valuation process in DBS India.
Provide views on empanelment of valuer / valuation agencies and support for approval by approving authority
Provide credit support to CRM with requisite clarifications with respect to deviations / observations on Collateral valuation report, whenever required.
Approve valuation deviations / exceptions in line with collateral policy, when approve authority is delegated
Participate in and contribute to designated projects to improve credit processes and systems as a representative of RMG-IBG 3 and 4, India.

Technical Experience
Relevant experience in financial institutions, preferably in SME / mortgage credit, with exposure in collateral valuation policy and processes
Minimum No. of Years
7-10 years of experience preferably in SME / mortgage credit, with exposure in collateral valuation policy and processes
Education / Preferred Qualifications
Diploma/ University Degree
Work Relationship
Possess results-driven capability to work with service partners, such as CCU, BSU, CRMs, to ensure a seamless process flow for collateral valuation
Display a high degree of team spirit and professionalism, and able to co-operate in a harmonious and productive manner with superiors, peers, subordinates, internal customers and external service providers
