We are looking for a highly skilled and visionary Director of SAP Commerce Cloud Engineering to lead the architecture, development, and continuous improvement of our SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) platform. This role will drive end-to-end engineering initiatives, ensuring high performance, scalability, and seamless customer experiences across digital commerce channels. The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge with strong leadership capabilities to guide development teams and influence cross-functional strategy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead and mentor a high-performing team of engineers and technical leads specializing in SAP Commerce Cloud.
Define engineering best practices, coding standards, and agile methodologies across the platform team.
Foster a culture of innovation, quality, and accountability within the engineering organization.
Own the architectural vision and technical roadmap for SAP Commerce Cloud (B2B and/or B2C).
Drive technical decisions, including integrations with SAP S/4HANA, ERP, CRM, and third-party systems.
Ensure scalable, modular, and future-proof architecture aligned with enterprise strategy.
Oversee planning, estimation, and execution of engineering deliverables and product releases.
Work closely with Product Management and UX teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Track performance metrics, engineering velocity, and delivery quality
Partner with DevOps and Infrastructure teams to optimize CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployment strategies.
Support a shift-left approach for testing, security, and performance validation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, QA, operations, and business units.
Manage external development partners and SAP technical consultants as needed.
Comfortable working in internationally distributed teams
Strong verbal and written communication skills
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
10+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years in SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) development and architecture.
Strong expertise in Java, Spring Framework, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.
Experience with cloud-native development and deployment (e.g., SAP Commerce Cloud in public cloud environments).
Track record of leading large-scale, customer-facing commerce platforms.
Deep knowledge of integration patterns with SAP backend systems (e.g., S/4HANA, SAP ERP, SAP CPI).
Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and team-building skills.
SAP Certified Development Specialist – SAP Commerce Cloud.
Experience with headless commerce, composable architecture, and MACH principles.
Familiarity with frontend frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, Spartacus).
Background in performance tuning, load testing, and site reliability engineering.

Lead and develop virtual teams
Expert in multiple technical and business skills
Strategic planning skills
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
Typically 12 or more years of increasing responsibility and complexity in terms of any applicable professional experience; 5 or more years of management experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
Typically a Bachelor's Degree or global equivalent in related discipline. Master's degree or global equivalent a plus.
TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Travel typically less than 15%. Office environment. No special physical demands required.
