This Position reports to:
Procurement and Logistics Manager
Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to support the local business in ensuring that business processes comply with ABB Trade policies, guidelines, and applicable trade regulations. You will act as a key point of contact for trade-related matters and support the implementation and maintenance of ABB’s Global Trade Program. You will also provide practical guidance to local business teams on export control, sanctions, customs compliance, and related regulatory requirements.

This role is contributing to the Local Business / Trade Compliance function within the Automation in Energy Division in Bangalore. The main stakeholders are Local Business Management, Country Trade Compliance Officer (CTCO), Global Trade, Legal, Information Systems, Engineering, Product Management, Quality, Supplier Quality, and other relevant business functions.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Creating and maintaining procedures and guidelines for export control, sanctions, and customs compliance, and ensuring an up-to-date overview of relevant trade policies, processes, and tools.
Providing guidance and periodic updates to local business management and employees on ABB’s Global Trade Program and significant changes in export control and customs laws and regulations.
Implementing trade compliance awareness and training programs, supporting local trade reviews/self-audits, and identifying improvement areas and corrective actions.
Supporting day-to-day trade compliance activities, including customs and export control authorizations, trade records, product classification, SAP Global Trade Services (GTS) where applicable, and cross-functional continuous improvement.

You will join a collaborative and cross-functional team, where you will work closely with business and functional stakeholders to support effective trade compliance across the end-to-end business process.
Qualifications for the role
You have several years of experience within a business environment, with a good understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes, risk management, and logistics.
You have knowledge of export control, sanctions, customs rules, and regulations, or demonstrate a great willingness and ability to learn these areas.
You have experience or knowledge of trade compliance processes, including export/import compliance, documentation, record keeping, product classification, and trade reviews/self-audits.
You are familiar with or willing to work with SAP Global Trade Services (GTS) and other relevant trade compliance systems and tools, where applicable.
You have business acumen, ownership, initiative, and an organized working style, with the ability to provide practical guidance across the local business.
You have effective communication and collaboration skills and are comfortable working with stakeholders across different levels and functions.
You are proficient in English and the local language required for communication with relevant authorities, both verbally and in writing.
