We are looking for a Senior Cloud Operations Engineer to join our Cloud Engineering team in Barcelona. This is an exciting opportunity to drive cloud infrastructure automation, governance, and operational excellence across Clarivate's public cloud platforms. Working closely with Engineering and Information Security teams, you will help build secure, scalable, and compliant cloud foundations using technologies including Azure, AWS, Terraform, GitHub Actions, and Linux. The team serves as Clarivate's central cloud enablement function, supporting cloud adoption and operational best practices across the organization.
About You – Experience, Education, Skills, and Accomplishments
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
At least 5 years of experience designing, implementing, and operating cloud infrastructure within enterprise-scale environments.
At least 5 years of experience administering and supporting Microsoft Azure services, including cloud governance, identity management, networking, and security controls.
At least 5 years of experience using infrastructure-as-code and automation tools, such as Terraform, to provision, manage, and govern cloud resources.
At least 3 years of experience developing and supporting CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Git, and automation best practices for infrastructure deployment.
At least 5 years of experience working with Linux systems and troubleshooting cloud infrastructure, performance, operational, and production support issues at scale.
It Would Be Great If You Also Have...
Experience supporting multi-account AWS environments, including IAM, networking, and governance controls.
Experience with observability and monitoring platforms such as DataDog.
Experience with Cloudflare, Snowflake, or Databricks.
Experience implementing cloud compliance, security, and operational governance frameworks.
Experience supporting multi-cloud environments, including Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform.
What Will You Be Doing in This Role?
Build and maintain automated cloud platform capabilities using Terraform, GitHub Actions, and cloud-native services to support scalable and secure infrastructure operations.
Define, implement, and govern Azure cloud standards for identity, networking, security, resource management, and compliance.
Develop automated guardrails and governance controls that enable engineering teams to deploy and operate cloud solutions consistently and securely.
Collaborate with Engineering and Information Security teams to improve cloud architecture, operational resilience, and security posture across the organization.
Drive operational excellence through automation, process improvement, monitoring, observability, and incident reduction initiatives.
Assess and introduce new technologies, tooling, and platform capabilities that improve cloud adoption, developer productivity, and infrastructure governance.
About the Team
The Cloud Engineering team serves as Clarivate's central Public Cloud enablement function. The team provides operational guidance, governance, compliance standards, and cloud best practices for new and existing cloud deployments across the organization. Working closely with Engineering and Information Security stakeholders, the team helps accelerate cloud adoption while ensuring scalability, security, operational excellence, and compliance requirements are met.
Hours of Work
This is a full-time, permanent position, primarily working core UK business hours. This role requires regular on-site presence to provide hands-on support. Some flexibility may be required to support priority incidents, executive stakeholders or wider EMEA initiatives.
