Join our team as the Director of Engineering, where you’ll lead the charge in developing cutting-edge motors, blowers, pumps, and gearmotors for the Bison product line. This is a high-impact role that blends technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic vision to drive product innovation and support our global manufacturing operations.
This role can be based in either our Kent, OH, Whitsett, NC or Aurora, IL site.
What you will do:
Manage and lead new product development and product engineering functions for the Bison portfolio of motors, blowers, pumps, and gearmotors
Work at multiple levels of detail – from project-specific technical details, to high-level long-term planning. This role combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on involvement in day-to-day operations.
Be a key part of our stage-gate process for development programs, working closely with Application Engineering, Sales, Product Management, and Operations
Manage and lead VAVE efforts for your respective areas
Drive development programs, including managing scope, risk, schedule, and budget. Project management skills are key
Lead R&D efforts, in conjunction with Product Management, to ensure we’re saying current with trends and innovation in select areas and technologies
Prepare budgets and other financial reporting and tracking, in accordance with AMETEK expectations
Lead and work with teams that are both on-site at the same location, and also remote and global, including vendors, customers, and engineers that are in different time zones
Manage support for qualification and approvals for part re-sourcing, new components, and other production issues
Provide and ensure technical support for our manufacturing sites, to ensure on-time delivery and to meet quality expectations
Use your technical experience and knowledge to guide and make decisions and plans for individual development projects and for product lines
Support or lead meetings, training, or report-outs to customers, peers, or to corporate management. Ability to communicate well with all roles and levels is key.
Analyze and interpret data to make decisions
Lead and foster a sense of urgency and ownership within your team to drive a high-level of performance
We are looking for:
Bachelor's degree in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree is a plus.
Minimum 3 years in a leadership/supervisory role
Minimum 3 years working for a manufacturer
Minimum 5 years working in a related field; experience with similar products a plus
Demonstrated success in a manufacturing environment
Strong organizational, collaboration, and communication skills required
Demonstrated success in talent development
Demonstrated success in project management
Ability to travel 25% of the time domestically and internationally
