Chaucer Insurance Company (CIC) commenced underwriting in 2018 as the company market arm of UK-based Chaucer and is part of China Re Group, one of the world’s top ten reinsurers. The Company is primarily focused on risks in the UK, EEA and US. CIC is licensed to write all non-life specialty classes from its offices in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Bermuda and Denmark. CIC is rated A with Standard & Poor’s, and rated ‘A’ with A.M. Best.
Job summary
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Financial Accountant has a broad range of duties covering financial and regulatory reporting. The primary focus is supporting the Financial Controller, and the Finance team, meet its quarterly/annual reporting deadlines.
The person in this role will have the flexibility to work remotely and in the office through a hybrid working model.
Main duties
Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual results for local and group reporting.
Assist in the co-ordination of external audit queries as part of the year end.
Assist the Financial Controller in improving current processes and implementing system changes to support the Company as it continues to grow.
Assist in the preparation of Finance related material for Board & Committee presentations.
Involvement in Ad-hoc projects where necessary
Skills and Experience
Relevant experience:
Essential: Insurance industry experience
Desirable: Solvency II and/or other regulatory reporting
Technical skills:
Essential: Overall proficient in using Microsoft Office – excellent Excel
Desirable: Experience in designing & implementing processes and using a general ledger
Education & Experience:
Essential: Qualified Accountant or equivalent
Personal Skills:
Self-motivated but also working well within a team environment
Detail oriented
Analytical skills
Ability to work in a team
Flexibility and adaptability
Good verbal and written communication skills
