Medical Image Annotation Technician

Primary Function of Position
We are seeking a Medical Image Annotation Technician to support Ion’s Machine Learning Engineering team. In this role, you will work with CT, MRI, ultrasound, and bronchoscopy images to support the development of state-of-the-art image-guided robotic systems. You will create high-quality ground truth datasets for medical imaging algorithms using manual and semi-automated segmentation tools. This role requires strong attention to detail, and a focus on accuracy and consistency.
Essential Job Duties
Perform manual and semi-automated segmentation of anatomical structures in medical images
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent, high-quality annotations
Conduct self-review and quality checks on completed work
Document workflows, issues, and edge cases clearly
Collaborate with engineers and clinical experts to refine annotation guidelines

Ability to follow structured workflows and repeat processes at scale
Solid communication and documentation skills
Comfort working extensively with software tools and computer-based tasks
Reliable, disciplined work ethic
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Ideally, a candidate would also have:
Fluency in Spanish and English preferred but not required
Experience with medical imaging software (e.g., 3D Slicer, ITK-SNAP, OsiriX, etc.)
Basic understanding of human anatomy
Familiarity with DICOM data and imaging concepts
Prior experience in data annotation, QA, or regulated environments
