This position offers the opportunity to join a high-performing R&D team supporting the development of advanced polyurethane adhesive technologies for leading automotive OEMs customers. The Polyurethane High Viscosity Department develops and supplies innovative adhesive solutions for some of the world's most recognized automotive manufacturers.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting product development, testing, and laboratory operations within the Automotive Division. Responsibilities include preparing formulations, conducting laboratory testing, maintaining equipment and inventory, documenting results, and collaborating with scientists and engineers on multiple development projects.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and capable of working independently while contributing effectively within a team environment. Accurate documentation, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to safety and quality are essential for success.
Specific Responsibilities:
Prepare formulations and conduct laboratory-scale and pilot-scale experiments using laboratory mixing equipment.
Perform chemical, physical, rheological, and performance testing of polyurethane adhesive systems.
Evaluate new and existing formulations using established internal and industry test methods, including ASTM and automotive standards.
Conduct mechanical testing to support product development and technical investigations.
Participate in product characterization and validation activities.
Perform analytical testing as required.
Safely handle raw materials, including lifting containers, bags, and buckets as part of routine laboratory activities.
Support troubleshooting and root cause investigations.
Qualifications/Experience/Education:
Education
Associate Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Technology, or a related scientific discipline.
Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant industrial laboratory experience.
Technical Skills
Experience working in laboratory environments and conducting material testing safely.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Ability to manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines.
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Basic understanding of experimental design, material testing, and data analysis.
