About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Built is seeking a U.S.-based SharePoint Online & Power Platform Developer for a 4–6 month remote contract engagement focused on improving an existing Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Online environment.
The role focuses on resolving SharePoint organization, file access, search, and OneDrive synchronization issues while developing practical workflows using Microsoft Lists and Power Automate.
The ideal candidate will combine hands-on technical expertise with strong communication and change-management skills, delivering measurable improvements every 2–4 weeks without disrupting existing business processes.
Change management is especially important. The goal is not simply to configure Microsoft 365, but to introduce improvements in a way that users understand and actually adopt.
Key Responsibilities
Assess the existing SharePoint Online environment and identify immediate improvements to:
Site and document structure
Folder usage
File access
Search
Metadata
OneDrive synchronization
Address issues caused by deeply nested folder structures, including OneDrive sync failures and difficulty locating information.
Improve the SharePoint experience for new employees and occasional collaborators who may not already understand the existing folder structure.
Recommend practical improvements without requiring users to abandon folders and spreadsheets all at once.
Build and improve business workflows using Microsoft Lists and Power Automate.
Support future improvements to processes such as RFP tracking and spreadsheet-based workflows.
Configure and maintain Microsoft 365 permissions and security controls carefully.
Work with CEII-sensitive project information in accordance with applicable access requirements and client security controls.
Participate in short discovery workshops, interviews, or user-observation sessions to understand how employees actually work with files and information.
Translate discovery findings into practical improvements and working solutions.
Deliver visible progress in short cycles, typically every 2–4 weeks.
Keep demands on engineering and business users' time low through focused discovery and efficient feedback sessions.
Help users adopt new processes and tools through clear communication, practical guidance, and incremental change.
Clearly document implemented solutions and processes.
Required Skills
Strong hands-on experience with SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365.
Experience improving existing SharePoint environments, particularly document organization, information access, search, and usability.

Experience diagnosing and improving OneDrive / SharePoint synchronization issues.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Lists.
Strong hands-on experience with Power Automate and practical workflow automation.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 permissions, access controls, and secure collaboration.
Ability to work carefully with restricted or sensitive information.
Experience gathering requirements directly from business users through discovery sessions, workshops, or user observation.
Ability to move quickly from discovery into hands-on implementation.
Strong change-management and user-adoption skills.
Ability to introduce improvements incrementally rather than requiring major process changes all at once.
Strong written and spoken English.
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
Must be based in the United States.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience working with regulated, energy, utility, engineering, or infrastructure organizations.

Experience with broader Microsoft Power Platform tools.
