GLOBAL DIRECTOR – AMAZON
Location: Los Angeles/Orange County, California
Company: Razor USA
Reports to: Senior Executive Management
Scope: Global Amazon Business
Position Overview
Razor USA is seeking an experienced Global Director- Amazon to lead, coordinate, and accelerate Razor's Amazon business worldwide.
This is a senior commercial leadership position with responsibility for developing and executing Razor's Amazon strategy with direct accountability for sales growth, profitability, relationships, negotiations, and overall account performance.
Initial focus will be in the United States and Canada, while establishing the strategy, organization, processes, and best practices that will ultimately guide Razor's Amazon businesses throughout the world.
We are looking for an Amazon expert and business leader who understands how Amazon works, knows how to navigate its organization and systems, can negotiate effectively, and can translate that expertise into sustainable, profitable growth.
The ideal candidate will bring significant commercial, vendor management, retail, or marketplace experience. Experience working at Amazon- or leading substantial Amazon business for a recognized consumer products company- is a plus but is not required.
Former Amazon experience is highly preferred, but not mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
Global Amazon Strategy & Leadership
• Develop and lead Razor's global Amazon strategy to drive sales, profitability, market share, and brand strength.
• Lead U.S. and Canadian Amazon operations initially, building the infrastructure to expand into other international markets.
• Set global priorities, standards, and best practices while adapting to each marketplace's unique dynamics.
• Shape Vendor Central (1P) strategy by market, including assortment, pricing, inventory, and advertising decisions.
Profitable Growth & P&L Responsibility
• Hold P&L responsibility for Razor's Amazon business, prioritizing profitability over topline growth.
• Evaluate full account economics — margin, trade spend, freight, advertising, chargebacks, and inventory costs.
• Build commercial propositions that are sustainable for both Razor and Amazon.
• Develop annual and multi-year sales/profit plans with measurable targets by market.
Amazon Relationship Management & Negotiation
• Serve as Razor's senior relationship owner with Amazon executives, Vendor Managers, and category teams.
• Lead major negotiations on terms, pricing, promotions, freight, and advertising commitments.
• Craft solutions that advance Razor's interests while giving Amazon a compelling reason to invest in the partnership.
• Escalate and resolve significant commercial, operational, and financial issues.
Distributor & Agency Management
• Manage Razor’s network of Amazon distributors, authorized representatives, and advertising agencies, setting clear objectives and performance metrics for each.
• Partner with advertising agencies to drive Amazon advertising ROI, content/conversion and discoverability.
• Conduct regular business reviews; identify gaps and drive corrective action.
• Hold authority (with senior management) to hire, replace, or terminate partners as needed.
• Build a world-class network of Amazon specialists across key markets.
Amazon Expertise & Navigation
• Serve as Razor's internal expert on Amazon's systems, policies, and economics.
• Maintain deep knowledge of Vendor Central, advertising, forecasting, and account economics.
• Navigate Amazon's organization to resolve problems and advance Razor's objectives.
• Track changes in Amazon policy, fees, and programs, and advise leadership on impact.
Growth Initiatives
• Drive initiatives across new products, pricing, advertising ROI, content/conversion, inventory, discoverability, and competitive positioning.
• Use data and analytics to identify underperformance and develop corrective strategies.
Communication & Global Coordination
• Establish consistent communication across Razor teams, partners, and Amazon.
• Lead regular business reviews with clear reporting on performance and risk.
• Share best practices across markets rather than allowing siloed execution.
• Coordinate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations, and other teams.
Qualifications & Experience:
Highly Preferred
Former Amazon employees with relevant Vendor Management, Retail, or Marketplace experience are highly preferred; Razor will also strongly consider senior Amazon/e-commerce executives with a track record of leading substantial, profitable Amazon businesses for major consumer products companies.
Additional qualifications include:
• 10+ years of sales, e-commerce, marketplace, or consumer products experience, with significant direct P&L and negotiation responsibility for a substantial, profitable Amazon business.
• Deep working knowledge of the Vendor Central (1P) model, including advertising, forecasting, inventory, analytics, and account economics.
• Experience managing employees, representatives, distributors, or other external partners.
• International Amazon experience (particularly Canada) and a consumer products background are strong pluses.
• Excellent communication, presentation, relationship-management, analytical, and negotiation skills.
Leadership Characteristics
The successful candidate will be:
• Commercially aggressive yet financially disciplined, prioritizing profitability, sustainable growth over revenue for its own sake.
• Highly credible with Amazon, comfortable challenging existing practices or partners when performance falls short.
• Strategic, but hands-on enough to diagnose and resolve detailed Amazon issues.
• Data-driven, analytical, and entrepreneurial in identifying new opportunities.
• An excellent communicator and collaborator, effective at influencing teams across functions and countries.
Measures of Success
Performance will be evaluated based on:
• Profitable Amazon sales growth and P&L performance, in the U.S., Canada, and globally
• Quality and sustainability of Amazon account economics
• Performance, market share, and successful new-product introductions
• Advertising, promotional, and inventory/operational effectiveness
• Quality of Amazon relationships and effectiveness of representatives and distributors
• Improved global coordination and resolution of significant commercial or operational issues
• Identification and implementation of new growth opportunities
Ultimately, success means building a stronger, faster-growing, and more profitable Amazon business for Razor while simultaneously creating a compelling and profitable business proposition for Amazon.
