SUMMARY
Provides oversight of RN/ LPN/CNA and secretarial staff in the performance of daily duties. Assists in problems solving to help alleviate clinical issues and processes on the assigned unit. Act as the clinical resource person, working as a team with the nurse manager, staff and the provider to identify the plan of care for each patient. Supports nurse manager in developing work plans that enable the unit to reach financial/quality/safety/operational targets. Provide superior customer service by modeling the Brand Promise and Core Values.

SCHEDULE: Evening/Nights, every other weekend

RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees & assures short & long term Nursing Dept. staff schedules per established quidelines
Facilitates units in emergency medical assessment & care of residents including interventions, transportation & other resources needed
Serves as a clinical resource person to staff in problem solving, assessments, special procedures & clinical skill enhancements
Coordinates with the Nursing Staff resident units & admissions dept. the rapid admission of residents including obtaining evaluations as indicated
Serves as adjunct to staff development coordinator in promoting planned in services to nursing staff as per master schedule/plan
Provides continuity of resident status with hospital supervisory staff, and Nursing Administration
Supervises the M.D.R. directing, interacting with residents, families and staff in providing safe, pleasant mealtime and assuring appropriate completion of required records
Serves as major facilitator in QA program for Nursing Dept. including completion of assessments of designated audits & resultant actions required
In absence of Nurse Manager, provides staff counseling, discipline as per policy
Assists with Charge Nurse duties as needed while maintaining overall supervisory responsibility.
Participates in Nursing department and facility QI program.
For PRLC Only: Assists with Charge Nurse duties on alternate floors on weekends while maintaining overall supervisory responsibility on weekends.
For PRLC Only: Evaluates and makes Medicare determinations of any patients readmitted on weekends and attempts to notify families of decisions
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of an accredited registered nurse program required
One to three years of nursing experience
Registered in NYS as a registered nurse professional.
PREFERRED QUALIFICAITONS
Bachelors preferred.
LT PAC nursing experience preferred.
One year of supervisory experience preferred.

BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - NYS Office of Professions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sedentary - Sedentary roles are primarily office-based and require prolonged sitting (67–100% of the workday) with minimal physical effort and lifting limited to under 10 lbs. Fine motor skills are necessary for computer work, writing, and telephone use, supported by clear visual and auditory ability. Cognitive and emotional demands are high due to extended concentration, frequent interruptions, independent decision-making, and information processing. Although physical exposure is low, administrative areas within healthcare environments may occasionally involve contact with infectious agents. Some roles may require flexible hours, TB screening, or a valid driver’s license.
