Position Summary:
The Processing Clerk manages critical production, inventory tracking, shipping coordination, and document control tasks to drive precise material visibility and seamless steel fabrication workflows. This position serves as an essential cross-functional resource, providing high-accuracy data entry, production documentation support, and inventory reconciliation.
Minimum Starting Salary: $19.00/hr depending on experience
Schedule: Monday - Thursday 7:45am to 5:15pm & Friday 8:00am to 3:00pm
Essential Functions:
Data Systems & Inventory Control
Process incoming structural engineering drawings from the detailing department, inputting data sets into the production control database with total accuracy.
Integrate and maintain active project documentation within the Tekla EPM platform to ensure robust downstream shop visibility.
Audit drawing bills of materials (BOMs) for accuracy and execute technical database corrections as required.
Maintain real-time database inventory records, systematically reconciling system values against physical shop floor counts.
Coordinate physical structural material inventories and compile comprehensive variance reports for management.
Reconcile open purchase orders directly against physical packing lists immediately upon material receipt.
Extract ad-hoc reports from the production control database to support scheduling, tracking, and management metrics.
Production Logistics & Shipping Operations
Prepare, verify, and audit detailed shop cut lists while digitizing high-priority production folders.
Review and troubleshoot invalid cut sheets to eliminate processing errors and maintain peak shop efficiency.
Create custom shipping tickets for sub-fabricated materials, including systematically relieving system inventory to track transfers to external project fabricators.
File and archive signed shipping tickets and associated logistics paperwork for compliance and historical tracking.
Document Control Alignment
Assist the Document Control department with manufacturing shop tags and associated project metadata documentation.
Support general document control initiatives, helping route documentation, store digital media, and process routine administrative items.
Contribute to cross-functional office workflows focused on the secure archiving, scanning, retrieval, and distribution of physical and digital assets.
Execute specialized administrative tasks and complete custom organizational projects as assigned by leadership.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Core Professional & Technical Proficiencies
Advanced numeric competency, including the accurate calculation of fractions, dimensions, and standard tape measure increments.
High proficiency operating within Microsoft Windows environments, Microsoft Office applications, and PDF review software (Bluebeam and Adobe).
Strong analytical problem-solving capabilities, structured time management skills, and the capacity to balance tight deadlines under pressure.
Industry Skills (Comprehensive training will be provided for the right candidate)
Practical understanding of operational workflows within a structural or miscellaneous steel fabrication environment.
General familiarity with structural steel shapes, terminology, weights, and dimensions.
Proficient ability to read, interpret, and accurately extract data from industrial blueprint drawings.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Demonstrated experience handling high-volume data entry with exceptionally low error margins.
Strong background in commercial record-keeping and office organizational systems.
Excellent verbal and written professional communication skills.
Experience using Tekla EPM / EPM Go software is strongly preferred; however, it is not required as comprehensive training will be provided for the right candidate.
Physical Requirements:
Predominantly operates within an office setting, with occasional requirements to move materials or equipment weighing up to 25–50 pounds.
