Job Details
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced technical accounting professional to lead technical accounting and SEC reporting for a publicly traded organization. Reporting to the VP & Corporate Controller, this role serves as a key resource for U.S. GAAP, complex accounting transactions, accounting policy, and external financial reporting.
The ideal candidate brings extensive public-company SEC reporting experience, strong technical accounting expertise, and the ability to interpret complex accounting guidance, develop well-supported accounting positions, and partner with executive leadership on critical financial matters.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the preparation and review of SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, proxy statements, and related financial disclosures.
* Serve as the primary technical accounting resource for U.S. GAAP and complex or non-routine accounting transactions.
* Research accounting guidance and prepare technical accounting memoranda supporting management's conclusions.
* Monitor new FASB and SEC guidance and lead the implementation of new accounting standards.
* Provide accounting guidance on acquisitions, divestitures, equity transactions, convertible debt, stock-based compensation, leases, derivatives, and revenue recognition.
* Partner with external auditors on quarterly reviews, annual audits, and technical accounting matters.
* Support SOX compliance and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting.
* Collaborate with Finance, Treasury, Legal, Tax, FP&A, and Investor Relations on accounting and reporting matters.
* Supervise and mentor a Senior Technical Accountant while developing technical accounting capabilities across the organization.
Qualifications
* Active CPA license required.
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's degree preferred.
* 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience.
* At least 5 years of SEC-reporting experience within a publicly traded company.
* Extensive experience preparing and reviewing Forms 10-Q, 10-K, and other SEC filings.
* Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, Regulation S-X, Regulation S-K, and public-company disclosure requirements.
* Demonstrated experience preparing technical accounting memoranda and evaluating complex accounting transactions.
* Experience with PCAOB audits, SOX 302/404, and internal controls over financial reporting.
* Strong technical writing, analytical, and executive communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
* Big Four public accounting experience.
* Experience responding to SEC comment letters.
* Experience with Nasdaq- or NYSE-listed companies.
* Familiarity with Workiva, NetSuite, BlackLine, or similar financial reporting systems.
* Experience supporting M&A activity and capital markets transactions.
