What You'll Do
Build and own customer-facing products using React and Node.js.
Design APIs, data models, and backend systems that are reliable, maintainable, and scalable.
Translate ambiguous product requirements into simple, thoughtful technical solutions.
Work closely with Product, Design, Academics, and Operations to understand problems and ship solutions quickly.
Make pragmatic architecture and engineering decisions without over-engineering.
Review code and help establish strong engineering practices across the team.
Debug production issues and improve the reliability and observability of our systems.
Use AI coding tools effectively while maintaining a high bar for code quality and understanding what you ship.
What We're Looking For
4+ years of software engineering experience, with strong full stack experience.
Strong proficiency with JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
Solid understanding of relational databases, API design, authentication, and modern web architecture.
Experience designing and building production systems rather than just implementing well-defined tickets.
Strong product sense - you think about the experience from the customer's perspective, not just whether the code works.
Ability to reason about edge cases, failure modes, concurrency, and real-world operational constraints.
Comfortable working independently and taking ownership from problem definition through production.
Good written communication and the ability to explain technical decisions clearly.
Bonus Points
Experience with AWS, PostgreSQL, Next.js, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, or EdTech products is useful but not required.
Above all, we're looking for engineers who combine strong technical fundamentals, product thinking, ownership, and good judgment.
