Role Description The Refractory Supervisor is a full-time, on-site role located in Thane, responsible for overseeing refractory installation, maintenance, and repair activities in high-temperature industrial environments. This role coordinates daily work schedules, allocates tasks to technicians and contractors, and ensures all refractory work meets technical specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards. The Refractory Supervisor monitors equipment and lining performance, conducts inspections, identifies potential issues, and implements corrective actions to minimize downtime and extend asset life. The role involves maintaining documentation, preparing reports on material usage and job progress, collaborating with engineering, production, and safety teams, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The supervisor also trains and mentors team members, promotes safe work practices, and ensures adherence to company procedures and customer requirements.
Qualifications
Solid knowledge of refractory materials, installation techniques, and maintenance practices, with experience in steel, cement, or other high-temperature process industries.
Experience supervising technical teams, coordinating contractors, and organizing on-site work, including shift-based operations and resource allocation.
Strong understanding of industrial safety standards, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems, with a commitment to safe work practices.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and quality specifications, and to document work performed accurately.
Good planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work under time constraints and manage multiple tasks.
Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with operations, maintenance, engineering, and external partners.
Relevant technical diploma or degree in mechanical, ceramic, materials, or industrial engineering (or equivalent practical experience in refractory supervision).
Previous supervisory experience in refractory or related industrial maintenance roles; familiarity with continuous improvement and cost-optimization practices is an advantage.
Willingness to work on-site in Thane and in demanding industrial environments at high temperatures, following all safety and compliance requirements.
