About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
We are seeking a Senior Java Developer with Angular to join our team and spearhead the remediation of security vulnerabilities across a portfolio of business-critical enterprise applications.
The perfect candidate brings strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Framework / Spring Boot, and Angular, and feels confident owning complex enterprise applications, driving architectural decisions, performing in-depth analysis of security findings, and designing secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions across both backend and front-end layers.
The core focus of the role is Java/Spring development and security vulnerability remediation, with Angular applied to support, evolve, and maintain front-end components when needed. As a senior engineer, you will also be expected to mentor fellow team members, shape technical direction, and serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Lead the analysis and remediation of security vulnerabilities across the applications, including defining remediation strategies and best practices
Design, develop, modify, and maintain backend functionality with Java and Spring Boot, ensuring high standards of quality, performance, and security
Evolve and enhance existing microservice-based architectures and REST APIs, proposing improvements where appropriate
Work with relational databases, including PostgreSQL, tune queries, and resolve complex application/database integration issues
Maintain, refactor, and improve front-end functionality using Angular
Design and implement solutions leveraging Kafka and event-driven integrations where applicable
Investigate complex legacy code and deliver fixes that address vulnerabilities without disrupting business functionality
Drive the upgrade of vulnerable libraries, frameworks, and application dependencies, including planning and risk mitigation
Perform code-level remediation guided by security findings, threat modeling, and secure development practices
Diagnose and resolve complex issues arising from security fixes, dependency upgrades, or legacy implementations
Write clean, maintainable, and secure code across backend and front-end layers, and define coding standards for the team
Lead code reviews, testing strategies, and validation of implemented fixes
Collaborate closely with developers, QA engineers, architects, product stakeholders, and other team members, offering technical guidance
Mentor less experienced engineers and share knowledge throughout the team
Drive continuous improvement of application security, technical quality, and engineering practices
Requirements
3+ years of commercial software development experience with Java
Expert-level knowledge of Java, with the capability to explain advanced concepts in depth, reason through complex coding and design challenges, and consistently deliver high-quality, maintainable solutions
Deep hands-on expertise in Spring Framework / Spring Boot, including dependency injection, application configuration, REST services, data access, security, and advanced enterprise development patterns
Strong understanding of microservice architecture and communication patterns, including service boundaries, REST-based integrations, error handling, resiliency patterns, observability, and troubleshooting of distributed systems
Advanced skills in SQL and relational databases, including complex queries, joins, indexes, transactions, data access patterns, performance tuning, and schema design
Solid hands-on proficiency in Angular and TypeScript, sufficient to investigate, maintain, refactor, and enhance existing front-end functionality
Practical experience with Kafka or similar event-driven messaging technologies, including producers/consumers, asynchronous communication patterns, and the design of reliable event-driven flows
Proven background in mentoring engineers, leading technical initiatives, and collaborating with stakeholders
Proficiency in English at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher
Nice to have
Familiarity with PostgreSQL
Understanding of common application vulnerabilities, secure coding practices, dependency-related risks, and approaches for identifying and remediating security findings
