About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Key responsibilities
Define and maintain electrical architecture, power distribution, harnesses, connectors, sensors, actuators, displays, IoT and operator controls.
Specify control logic for driving, loading, mixing, water dosing and safety-related interlocks as applicable to the released machine architecture.
Specify, configure, program and calibrate machine controllers or PLCs as applicable; develop and debug control logic, I/O, communication, operating modes and fault handling. Manage software versions and release evidence, whether code is developed internally or by a supplier.
Integrate OEM engine and other electronic subsystems, including communication interfaces; own interface specifications and version control for settings and software.
Develop schematics, harness drawings, I/O lists, control descriptions, fault codes and diagnostic procedures.
Test electrical robustness and functional behavior with Validation; investigate intermittent faults, environmental failures and supplier substitutions.
Use field failures, service feedback and test data to improve controls, diagnostics, electrical reliability and operator experience; implement and verify controlled design changes.
Own electrical and controls design cost within agreed targets; lead VA/VE, component standardisation and cost reduction while protecting functional performance and safety.
Assess alternate electrical and controls suppliers from an engineering perspective; define specifications, review compatibility and validate substitutions with Operations and sourcing.
Develop electrical and controls concepts for additional SLM size classes and variants, including alternative power sources, electrified functions and evolving drivetrain controls, with Powertrain and the Engineering Lead.
Work with Service Head on troubleshooting tools and technician training; work with Operations on harness manufacture and end-of-line checks.
Essential qualifications and experience
Degree in electrical, electronics, mechatronics or related engineering.
Experience with mobile equipment wiring, sensors, controllers and control logic.
Ability to read and release electrical schematics and diagnose faults on a complete machine.
Familiarity with CAN-based communication, software/configuration control and test documentation.
Hands-on experience configuring and programming industrial or mobile machine controllers or PLCs, including I/O mapping, diagnostics, calibration and structured debugging; ability to work with suppliers where controller software is externally developed.
Experience in design cost reduction, field-driven improvements, alternate-component validation and disciplined software/change control.
Preferred experience
SLM or concrete equipment controls; water/ admixer dosing or batching functions.
Functional safety methods appropriate to mobile machinery.
