About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Lead downstream process development at lab scale (bench centrifuges, small-scale
TFF, lab reactors, etc.) and execute scale-up to pilot plant systems (disk-stack
centrifuges, pilot TFF skids, jacketed reactors, spray dryers, etc.)
• Develop, optimize, and validate unit operations across the full DSP train: cell
disruption, primary recovery, biotransformation, filtration, and drying
• Design and execute lab-scale DoE studies to establish process design space prior to
pilot campaigns
• Author and execute Pilot Batch Records documenting mass balance, unit operation
efficiency, yields, and process deviations
• Collect and interpret engineering data (volumetric flow rates, pressure drops, heat
transfer, yield losses) to support commercial plant design
• Mentor junior DSP scientists and technicians; provide day-to-day technical direction
to the DSP team
• Collaborate closely with upstream fermentation, analytical, and quality teams to
ensure process inputs and outputs are aligned
• Ensure all operations comply with safety standards including dust explosion
