About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Company Description Sisir Radar Private Limited is building India’s first drone-borne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), delivering the world’s highest-resolution L-band SAR imaging capability. The company focuses on all-weather, day-and-night radar imaging that functions reliably through clouds, smoke, fog, and darkness, making critical data accessible and affordable. Its technology uncovers fine, previously invisible details for commercial, tactical, strategic, and civilian applications. Sisir Radar is led by founder Tapan Misra, a globally recognized expert in imaging radar, former Director of ISRO’s Space Applications Centre and Physical Research Laboratory, and principal designer of the RISAT satellite series and the NASA-ISRO NISAR mission.
Role Description The Lead Mechanical Engineer will oversee the mechanical design and development of drone-borne SAR systems and related hardware in an on-site role based in Kolkata. This full-time position involves leading the design of mechanical components and assemblies, creating and reviewing CAD models and drawings, and ensuring mechanical integrity, reliability, and manufacturability. The role includes coordinating with cross-functional teams (electronics, RF, software, and flight operations), managing project timelines and deliverables, and supporting prototyping, testing, and validation activities. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will also drive continuous improvement in mechanical design processes, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to research and development for next-generation radar platforms.
