About Aurm
Getting a bank locker in India can mean a waitlist, banking hours and a staff escort every visit. We’re building the alternative. Aurm puts fully automated, insured vaults inside gated communities, corporate campuses and bank branches. They have military-grade strong rooms and biometric access, and your locker arrives on its own, like an ATM, any hour of the day.
Founded in 2023 by the team behind MyGate, we’re now scaling across India. As a Deployment Engineer, you’ll be the one who brings each new vault to life.
About the Role
We are looking for a Deployment Engineer to lead the on-site installation, configuration, and commissioning of our AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) and AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot) fleets and fleet management systems at customer sites. You will be the technical bridge between engineering and the customer floor, bringing up hardware, integrating with site infrastructure, validating navigation and task performance, and ensuring robots go live smoothly and reliably.
This is a hands-on, field-facing role suited to someone who is comfortable working across mechanical systems, embedded systems, networking, and robot software stacks, and who enjoys solving problems in real-world, dynamic environments.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and carry out on-site deployments of AGV and AMR hardware and fleet management software at customer facilities, covering site surveys, mechanical installation, network setup and infrastructure configuration.
Handle robot bring-up end to end, including mechanical assembly and inspection, OS and firmware setup, sensor calibration (LiDAR, cameras, IMU) and initial navigation mapping.
Set up and validate fleet orchestration, task assignment and MQTT-based communication between robots and site systems.
Diagnose and fix issues anywhere in the stack (mechanical, hardware, embedded software, networking or application layer) during commissioning and after go-live.
Run acceptance tests to confirm navigation accuracy, obstacle avoidance, task completion rates and safety system behaviour meet customer requirements.
Document deployment procedures, site-specific configurations and known issues, and feed recurring problems back to engineering to improve the product.
Work with software, hardware and product teams to escalate and resolve bugs found in the field.
Train customer operations staff on using the system, basic troubleshooting and when to escalate.
Travel to customer sites as needed, within India or internationally, depending on business requirements.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
0-2 years of experience in field deployment, systems integration, or robotics/automation engineering (freshers with strong fundamentals and hands-on project experience are welcome to apply).
Basic understanding of mechanical assembly and troubleshooting (fasteners, alignment, basic mechanisms).
Working knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu preferred), command-line tooling, and basic scripting (Python/Bash).
Familiarity with networking fundamentals (IP configuration, VLANs, SSH tunnels, firewalls) in an industrial or site environment.
Exposure to robot communication protocols (MQTT, ROS/ROS2, or similar) through coursework, internships, or projects.
Comfortable reading logs, diagnosing hardware/software issues, and working through ambiguous field problems independently.
Strong communication skills - able to work directly with customer technical and operations staff.
Willingness to travel to deployment sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AMR/AGV systems, fleet management software, or industrial automation.
Familiarity with SLAM/navigation concepts, LiDAR sensor calibration, or robot localization.
Experience with Docker/containerized deployments.
Exposure to hardware bring-up (serial devices, USB drivers, PXE boot/flashing).
Prior experience in a customer-facing technical role (field engineer, solutions engineer, or similar).
