Quantitative Trader - Multi Asset
Location – London, Amsterdam or Geneva
Description:
Our client is a highly technical proprietary trading firm operating across global financial markets, combining sophisticated trading expertise with cutting-edge technology and a deeply quantitative approach to market-making and strategy development. With an established international presence, the firm operates across a broad range of asset classes, including futures, equities, options, commodities, fixed income and digital assets.
Technology is central to the firm's competitive advantage. Its trading environment is built around proprietary software, advanced quantitative tools and close collaboration between traders and engineers. A culture of continuous integration, test-driven development and ongoing innovation allows trading strategies and systems to evolve alongside increasingly complex global markets.
The firm is looking to hire an experienced Quantitative Trader to join its growing trading team in London, Amsterdam or Geneva. This is an opportunity for a technically minded trader with a proven record of profitability to operate within a sophisticated trading platform where quantitative thinking, programming ability and the development of new trading strategies are highly valued.
The Opportunity:
This role is designed for an experienced trader who combines strong market intuition with a quantitative mindset and a genuine interest in the technology underpinning modern trading. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop new strategies, enhance existing approaches and work directly with proprietary trading systems across a range of liquid financial markets.
The mandate is not restricted to a single asset class or trading style. Candidates with relevant experience across futures, equities, options, commodities, fixed income or other electronic markets will be considered, with the emphasis placed on demonstrated trading ability, technical aptitude and the capacity to develop profitable strategies.
The firm's engineering-led culture offers an environment in which traders can work closely with highly technical colleagues to test ideas, improve strategy logic and translate market insights into live trading performance. Rather than simply operating established systems, the successful candidate will contribute to their ongoing development, with scope to influence both strategy design and implementation.
For traders who want to combine direct market involvement with hands-on quantitative and technical work, this represents an opportunity to join a firm where innovation, rigorous development practices and collaboration are fundamental to the trading process.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, research and implement new trading strategies across relevant global financial markets.
Analyse existing strategies and identify opportunities to improve profitability, execution quality, robustness and risk-adjusted returns.
Use quantitative analysis and market insight to identify new sources of alpha and trading opportunities.
Work with proprietary trading software to customise, refine and enhance existing strategies.
Apply programming and analytical tools to investigate market behaviour, test hypotheses and support strategy development.
Monitor live trading performance, assess risk and make informed decisions in dynamic market conditions.
Collaborate closely with traders, quantitative specialists and software engineers to improve trading strategies and supporting infrastructure.
Contribute to a disciplined development process incorporating rigorous testing, continuous integration and iterative strategy refinement.
Exercise independent judgement and sound risk management while contributing to a collaborative, high-performance trading environment.
Ideal Candidate:
Five or more years of professional trading experience, ideally within a high-volume electronic trading or proprietary trading environment.
A demonstrable track record of developing, improving or managing profitable trading strategies.
Experience across one or more liquid asset classes, including futures, equities, options, commodities or fixed income.
Strong mathematical and quantitative aptitude, with the ability to analyse complex market behaviour and translate insights into trading decisions.
Programming experience in C++ and/or Python, with the ability to undertake practical development and analytical work.
An understanding of strategy testing, optimisation and the challenges involved in deploying trading ideas in live markets.
A strong technical mindset and an interest in the intersection of financial markets, quantitative methods and software engineering.
The ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement under pressure and take ownership of trading outcomes.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with technical and trading colleagues.
A degree in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
What’s on Offer:
The opportunity to join a sophisticated proprietary trading firm with a strong technology-led culture.
Access to advanced proprietary trading systems and an environment focused on continuous technological and strategic improvement.
A broad, multi-asset trading environment without restriction to a single market or strategy.
Close collaboration with experienced traders and highly capable engineering professionals.
Scope to develop new strategies, enhance existing approaches and contribute directly to trading performance.
Flexible, collaborative working within an international trading organisation, with opportunities in London, Amsterdam or Geneva.
