Supervisory Board Consultant, R&D Department (Crop Protection)

Alfa Smart Agro runs an R&D department focused on crop protection research, including a biological laboratory that is preparing for international GEP and GLP certificenior Supervisory Board Consultant to provide independent, expert oversight of the R&D department and to advise the Board on its strategy, performance, and quality systems.
Role Summary
This is a fully remote, non-executive advisory position. The consultant sits on the Supervisory Board and advises it on the work of the R&D department: its strategy, research portfolio, organization, and quality systems. The role carries no day-to-day management and no hands-on preparation or filing of documents; it is independent oversight and expert counsel. International GEP/GLP certification is one of the topics the consultant advises on.
Key Responsibilities
Sit on the Supervisory Board and advise it on R&D strategy, priorities, and resource allocation
Review the R&D department's research portfolio, milestones, and performance against plan
Advise on the organization and leadership of the R&D function, including team structure and key hires
Advise on international GEP/GLP certification of the biological laboratory: roadmap, readiness, risks, and alignment with EU regulatory expectations
Challenge R&D leadership on quality systems, compliance, and risk management, and recommend corrective actions where gaps appear
Advise on external audits and contacts with regulators and certification bodies, without taking part in document preparation or filing
Give the Board independent reports and recommendations on the state of R&D
Required Qualifications
Mandatory: experience as Head of R&D (or equivalent senior R&D leader) at a multinational crop protection products company, with accountability for a research function, its budget, and its team
Working knowledge of GEP/GLP and laboratory quality systems; direct experience with GEP/GLP certification in EU countries is an advantage
Prior experience on a supervisory or advisory board is a strong plus
Familiarity with EU and OECD regulatory frameworks for pesticide registration
Excellent English, written and spoken
Ability to work independently and remotely in a cross-border, non-executive role
