Enable business growth with Emami.
Emami is a leading home-grown Indian FMCG group with a portfolio of trusted brands, a strong consumer connect and an ambitious growth journey. We are looking for an experienced Regional Commercial Manager – South to lead regional commercial finance, depot and warehouse operations, credit control, inventory management, statutory compliance and financial governance.
The role will be responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, financial discipline, regulatory compliance and effective coordination with Sales and other functions across the South region, while driving process improvements, cost optimisation and system automation.
What you'll do
Commercial Finance & Regional Operations: Lead commercial finance activities and oversee CFA and warehouse operations across the South region. Ensure timely invoicing, deliveries, documentation, billing, inward and outward movements, and secondary freight control within approved budgets. Conduct periodic physical stock verification, monitor service-level adherence, resolve depot-level operational issues and manage CFA, warehouse and transporter agreements to optimise costs and service delivery.
Credit Control & Debtor Management: Review and manage credit limits and terms in SAP based on Sales recommendations and approved guidelines. Conduct daily debtor reviews, drive timely collections and take corrective action on overdue accounts to ensure nil outstanding overdues. Ensure timely dealer reconciliations, collection and clearance of NPC/DBC, resolution of open claims, and completion of full and final settlements.
Inventory & Stock Management: Conduct critical inventory reviews, analyse stock positions and drive corrective action through regular reporting. Ensure adherence to FMFO practices, monitor distributor and depot inventory, and facilitate the liquidation of quality and blocked stock, including TL stock, within one month. Track depot-wise and distributor-wise damage stock as a percentage of sales and identify opportunities to minimise losses.
Schemes, Claims & Payout Management: Verify dealer schemes and payouts against approved circulars, budgets and policies. Ensure timely processing of credit notes and validate secondary claims in line with system logic, SOPs and defined timelines. Review and process travel claims for on-roll and off-roll Sales employees, MR and merchandiser attendance, incentives and expenses within approved budgets. Conduct market audits of MR and distributor claims to prevent revenue leakage and identify instances of ghost MRs.
GST, Statutory & Legal Compliance: Ensure timely filing of GST returns and payment of statutory dues for the region. Coordinate GST notices, hearings and assessments, including pre-GST matters, in consultation with the Legal team and external consultants. Manage monthly GST reconciliations with distributors and local vendors to maximise eligible input tax credit. Support legal proceedings involving pre-GST matters, tribunals and High Courts, as required.
Audits & Internal Controls: Ensure compliance with internal and external audit requirements, provide supporting documentation and facilitate smooth audit closures. Drive timely resolution of audit observations and closure of outstanding audit points. Conduct regular depot audits and physical stock verification, ensuring reconciliation between physical inventory and book records.
Budgeting, MIS & Financial Governance: Review monthly budget versus actual expenditure and ensure adherence to approved budgets. Drive monthly provision reviews and closure by the first of every month, track year-end provisions and ensure timely settlement. Support annual book closure activities in coordination with Head Office. Oversee fixed asset accounting, periodic physical verification and asset write-offs, along with regional cash and bank payment management.
Regional Administration & Business Support: Coordinate regional office administration, HR and IT requirements to ensure smooth business operations. Address escalations from Sales teams, dealers, vendors and CFA partners, ensuring timely resolution and uninterrupted operations.
Cross-functional Collaboration & Sales Enablement: Work closely with Sales, Marketing, IT and Supply Chain Management teams to enable seamless business operations. Provide commercial and financial support to Sales in achieving business targets, participate in sales meetings and provide inputs on operational efficiency, financial performance and compliance.
Process Improvement & System Automation: Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and process improvements. Design and implement automated workflows to reduce manual intervention, improve resource utilisation and strengthen process efficiency. Ensure automated systems are scalable, secure, reliable and maintain consistent uptime.
Training & Capability Building: Conduct at least one visit to each depot annually to deliver training and review operational practices. Provide regular training to Sales teams and Regional Commercial Executives (RCEs) on updated processes, systems, controls and compliance requirements.
