Backend Engineer
We are looking for a Backend Engineer to help architect and build our platform from the ground up. The focus is API request optimization and database performance — designing efficient service APIs, tuning PostgreSQL schemas and queries, and scaling event-driven systems with Kafka on AWS. We care about strong backend fundamentals more than any single language: our services are mostly Go and Python, and we are happy for you to pick up Go on the job.

Responsibilities
check_circle API Performance Design and optimize service APIs — request paths, latency, throughput, and reliability
check_circle Database Optimization Tune PostgreSQL schemas, queries, indexes, and data models for performance at scale
check_circle Service Development Build and maintain backend services (the stack is primarily Go and Python)
check_circle Architecture Work with event-driven systems and message queues (specifically Kafka)
check_circle Cloud Operations Manage and scale infrastructure within AWS
check_circle Team Collaboration Participate in code reviews and help set the standard for development practices and CI/CD processes
shieldRequirements
Location: based in Belgrade or Novi Sad, Serbia
3–5 years of professional backend development experience
Strong backend fundamentals in any modern server-side language — Go experience is welcome but not required
API Design: Proven experience designing and optimizing high-performance APIs
Database Skills: Strong PostgreSQL — schema design, query tuning, and optimization
AWS Expertise: Hands-on experience with cloud architecture and deployment
Communication: Strong analytical and written communication skills for a collaborative environment

Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or Terraform
Familiarity with Fintech / Financial Services industry standards
Knowledge of Microservices and CI/CD tools (like ArgoCD)
Experience with security best practices and cloud monitoring/logging
