About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

About Finrep.ai
Finrep builds AI-powered tools for SEC reporting, technical accounting, and financial disclosure workflows. Our AI assistant, Fina, reads SEC filings, accounting codifications, comment letters, and proxies, and answers with citations. Public-company finance teams and professional services firms use Finrep to produce regulatory filings, financial analyses, and compliance work faster and more accurately.
About the Role
Fina is only as good as the domain knowledge it's grounded in and the standard it's held to. As a Senior Domain Expert, you own both. You decide what a correct, practitioner-grade answer looks like, test Fina against that bar, find where it falls short, and build the capabilities that close the gap.
This is a hands-on, generalist role. You'll work across accuracy review, evaluation design, capability building, and knowledge coverage rather than one narrow slice of a pipeline. You're expected to notice what needs fixing and go build it, not wait to be assigned it. You'll work daily with engineering, product, design, and go-to-market, and what you learn from Fina's real-world reasoning will shape what we build next.
Key Responsibilities
Define what good output looks like. Write the standards, evaluation rubrics, and scoring criteria Fina is judged against. Work with engineering to turn them into automated graders and test sets, and help decide when a capability is ready to ship.
Maintain and improve Finrep's accuracy. Review Fina's answers to real customer questions and verify them against the underlying filing or standard. Log what went wrong and why. Don't stop at what customers happen to ask: test Fina against harder scenarios before a customer runs into them.
Build Fina's technical capabilities. Turn what review and evaluation reveal into new or improved AI skills and multi-step workflows. Areas include revenue recognition, leases, business combinations, non-GAAP measures, SEC disclosure drafting, and filing-readiness checks, across US GAAP, IFRS, and Ind AS. This is a long-term build, not a one-time project.
Keep Fina's knowledge current. Decide which accounting standards, auditing standards, and filings Fina needs to know. Get them into its knowledge base and monitor them so nothing goes out of date, across US, UK, and Indian companies. Periodically audit existing skills and prompts against current standards.
Own real projects end to end. Examples include mapping specific disclosure requirements into the product, or building tools that show customers how peer companies disclosed similar items. Document your work well enough that someone else could pick it up.
Shape the product and support customers. Bring gaps you observe in Fina's reasoning to the roadmap. Act as the domain voice in customer conversations and give engineering, product, and go-to-market the domain input they need.
Required Qualifications
Deep working knowledge of technical accounting or SEC reporting, enough to verify a claim against the primary standard or filing yourself rather than accept a plausible-sounding answer
Hands-on experience in technical accounting, audit, SEC reporting, or financial advisory
Working knowledge of US GAAP and SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy, S-1)
Ability to turn complex accounting and regulatory concepts into clear, structured logic a product can implement
Regular, hands-on use of generative AI tools, and a strong interest in how to instruct and evaluate them
A track record of owning work end to end, and comfort defining your own scope in a fast-moving startup
Strong written communication: you can produce rubrics, specs, and technical write-ups that others can act on
Experience working with engineering, product, or customer-facing teams
Based in Bengaluru, full-time
Preferred Qualifications
CA, CPA, or equivalent professional accounting certification
Big 4 or professional-services audit, technical accounting, or SEC reporting background
IFRS or Ind AS knowledge alongside US GAAP
Familiarity with EDGAR, XBRL, and the SEC comment-letter process
Experience reviewing, grading, or building evaluations for AI output
Experience writing prompts or designing AI agents and workflows
Background in financial data analysis, peer benchmarking, or equity research
A builder streak: you've made a tool, a site, or a dashboard on your own because it needed to exist
